I always find it weird when people review these type of games, they always find someway to mention the 16-Bit Era with the SNES and attempt to compare the graphics with them, and yet...

Why did the SNES and even Sega Genesis ports of these games always wind up sucking so much? Tons of missing frames, butchered sound, the original Neo-Geo/Arcade versions look and sound leagues better.

Simply because they don't have the same power. Graphics and sound were much better on Neo-Geo, hence perfect ports. But the price followed...

Tell me about it. Damn near $300 for the cart (straight arcade port), and double that for the system itself at the time....to hell with that. What was going through SNK's mind back then with the marketing strategy they had...

I agree with said review (for the most part, some of it was pretty baseless). Make us wait this long and not even online? PUH-LEEZ.

He's right too, only the hardcore fans of this series are going to get it and enjoy it.

Online shit is overrated, lag in fighting games is never fun.

Also, this is the same as the japanese version, America doesn't have network support for the online stuff SNK has in other releases, why would they include it? especially in a console that's being abandoned.

I love how people used to whine about SNK not releasing their games in America, and when they do, we get more whining.

They have p2p games for kaillera with virtually zero delay, so why can't a PS2 or an XBOX give me that? It's not as if they're processing NEXT GEN GRAPHICS to send across the net, it's 2D sprites It's not overrated. If anything, it's rated just fine. You can only have so much fun kicking the AI's and your friend's ass before you crave more.

I'm not sure if that last part is directed at me, but I'm definitely not whining. The game is given waaay more credit than it deserves in this thread. I'm just being realistic is all. Nothing more.

I like King Of Fighters as much as the next person, but the review was basically how I felt about the game to a T.

So true^1000.

The reviewers probably played XI for approximately 5 minutes, gave up because they couldn't beat the first stage, and went and wrote a review. Good jov.

The characters don’t really move very quickly and the fighting tends to be less combo-heavy, and more quick strikes and pressing your foe back, which lends a different feel to other 2D fighters on the market. One neat addition to the combat is the inclusion of a move where you can quickly travel a couple of [game] meters in either direction, invulnerable. It’s useful to have a fast move like this to close in on your opponent, which is also effective for breaking away when you’ve on the defensive.

Sorta sounded like he knew a bit about what he was talking about.

I know I'm going to regret voicing my opinion on this later down the line -_-

Hi, roll and run have been in KoF for ages, even guard cancel roll. (not directed at TempesT, directed at the guy who wrote this, and directed at TempesT only regarding how much the guy sounds like he knows about fighting games, no more)
If I struggled to the end of my determination, to the end of my way of life with my followers, if the result is ruin, then this ruin is inevitable. Grieve. Shed tears. But you cannot regret.

From Cyberfanatix

    Professor from the Madman's Cafe
The artwork on the moves list is definitely Senri Kita. She also did the artworks for Nintendo's recent Fire Emblem titles as well, so I guess she moved out of Capcom.

There's no in-depth reports yet but here's some info from Japanese forums. Kind of surprizing that there were reportedly around 50 people at the test, considering Tokyo's being hit with a throughout the whole day.

    Returning characters
Haohmaru, Genjuro, Ukyo, Nakoruru, Hanzo, Galford, Kyoshiro, Wanfu,
    Kazuki, Sougetsu, Charlotte.

New characters (Spellings may be incorrect)-
    Gallows (looks like a Viking)
Kim (ancestor of Kaphwan? must be, determening from his move names)
    J (Afro Samurai)
    Angelica (Short haired ethnic-looking female.)
    Varta (Armored knight.)
Black Hawk (Looks like a native American, fights with two Axes)
Habei? (Old man, name is probably incorrect)
Chiyo (Youngster with a wooden sword.)
Suzuhime (looks like a Japanese princess)

    Controls
    A- Side slash
    B- Vertical slash
    C- Kick
R- Extra moves (throw, deflect attacks, etc)

    A+B Feirce- Side slash
    B+C Feirce- Vertical slash

Fatal Fury Battle Archives vol 2 & World Heroes Gorgeous comes to the US!

FBA vol 2 contains Real Bout, Real Bout Special and Real Bout 2.
World Heroes Gorgeous contains, well, all the World Heroes games.

No release dates on either, of course, but I suppose it'll probably be sometime next year.

Well, I did mention that I didn't agree with some parts of the review. Of course he probably hasn't been playing it since 94, but he lets people who have never played it know what's in it. But yeah, that's a little lame.

^^
