And I thought why not do an annual end of year awards? Not just Coty but we could have different categories; Best character in a animated series, best New comer, Most creative character of the year,Coder of the year, Spriter of the year, Best Ai, Best palette, Best remix etc. Also every year we could do a sort of "career" award (Iced Idea) where we would honor a creator who has been around a while and has done quite a lot for the community in general. which would be picked by a group of peers I suppose

These are all just examples, but I think it would add more diversity and fun to the year end award and allow for a bigger event than just a character of the year. I'm willing to help if need be.

Extra points if you can do a live show on Twitch.tv . And then get someone entirely neutral to make "AND THE NOMINEES ARE" vids.

That would kick ass. I like this idea. I have an idea for awards and can post it when I can.

I wonder what would be done for entertainment. AI matches?

  • does this look like the face of mercy?
we could have a career recognition thing, but I dont know how to make that much different from a "Post about your favorite creator" thing.

Sounds awesome and complicated. Where would you put so much data? Seems like there would need to ba a whole section for something like that. Not to mention a lot of work for the people who would be running it behind the scence for free..

I liked the idea, a lot. I hope this can be done in a future (I suggest december-january, IMO) and I offer my help for anything in the case this would be a serious project

It's a great idea but Ink here nailed it.
All of your Mugen Portrait needs may be found HERE.

I'd like to report two robots on the MFG forums: One is EXShadow. The other is Saikoro.
There should be a Saikoro plugin for Photoshop.

With the monthly and yearly awards the hype generated to also do this just wouldn't be as feasible. In drunk duck the webcomics community I ran the DD awards for several years. In it there was a general write in poll to figure out the nominees. The top 5 voted in each category was the nominees. I created a smf forum to wrangle judges. Each category had 3 judges that would discuss the pros and cons of the nominees in each category. They'd argue back and forth till they made a decision or the deadline would be reached where it'd come down to majority vote.

This would be a lot more complicated to do in terms of mugen creations however. It's harder to find people that could understand and critique the ins and outs of a fully coded character/stage/etc

If something like this was going to work the monthly awards would probably need to be removed so all the energy could be focussed on this one huge event that would take place once a year. It would generally take 3 months for the whole thing to start and then complete requiring massive amounts of community involvement. I think it's a bit too much to ask for in this community.
