no question about it, when you play the arcade and reach the final boss it's gana be clear your fighting a character that in generly stronger then the rest of the opponent you had  to fight to get to the final stage , but what reason were some of these guys even chosen to be the final bosses? are they simply the strongest  characters via canon wise?

lets take a look at the original Street Fighter II , Bison (Vega in Japan) is known as the strongest before there  was any Akuma, when Akuma first made his debut he one-shot Bison with the raging demon , so now we assumed his the strongst fighter and so, he became an extra boss, but when it comes to the canon, he didn't really show up as a final boss, only fought bison after the end of the tourment .

but lets take a look at  a game like Power Instinct Matrimelee where Princess Sissy was the last boss, and even tought she is annoying to fight , I still don't think she is the strongest character when it comes to Canon ,, so why is she the final boss then ?

I guess it depend on how they effect the story line , regardless of their power level in canon

  • does this look like the face of mercy?
most games give you an organizer type of thing.
The idea being that the last persons you fight organized the event.

because it's like the storyline that whoever wins gets her hand in marriage. it's got nothin to do with strength

And to be honest, Power Instinct doesn't have much of a storyline to begin with, and it don't take seriously what little is there.

They could make a fighting game where the roster was nothing but beavers made out of cotton candy and I'd play if the gameplay was good because that's really all I give a shit about.

it's very game specific, and thus plot specific, being strong has little to do with it. in some game the final bosss changes depending on who you play as, in other games it's a tournament and the end character is just strong enough, in others it is the tournament organizer; etc...

And then some people say nobody cares for the storyline in fighting games.
If I struggled to the end of my determination, to the end of my way of life with my followers, if the result is ruin, then this ruin is inevitable. Grieve. Shed tears. But you cannot regret.

What makes final bosses being worthy final bosses?

Being as strong and seemingly powerful as Shao Kahn

Being able to kick your ass  5-20 times before you found out how to defeat them easily.

And then some people say nobody cares for the storyline in fighting games.

maybe every fighting game from now on should look like this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7pnsJKfcz3Y

no characters with personality or story what so ever , as long as the game play is balenced, who cares if the female cast is voiced by guys , or look all the same .

If and I say IF MvC3 was balanced , then ppl should not complain about the cast of characters , and ppl who don't care if the game had any intresting characters or story mainly play to win, if thats the case , then fighting games develepers may lose more then they would gain since ppl expect them to make a game where only tourny level players would bother with their games, if that happens then its bye bye for their fighting games freanchies

people should come to a grasp that not every single player has the skills to go in tourment play

There wouldn't be a female cast if that happened. Then I would have no reason to play fighting games.

As to answer the question, to look cool I guess? Nothing cooler than someone having the power to defeat everyone who opposes them (so they say).

Here is list of strongest Boss that are hard to kill (jumbled)
Shao Kahn
Rugal
M.Bison and Akuma
Sissy etc and I could say Akuma has a past with out Street Fighter Duo and Bison a bastard responsible for murders etc...Shao Kahn want to dominate the Earth realm blah blah blah!!!
The reason they are made bosses is because they form a core or integral part of the game. Without them is not so great unless its dream type match setup like KOF XII.
                                                                   AND
AS far PI goes The story is very ridiculous...I really dont get it so a man once said to me when I asked the same question...
One has to understand the minds of the creators if you want a complete nerdy but meaningful answer otherwise go to the net.

Magneto from Xmen COTA. I also liked his version in Mutant Academy.

Can he materialize metal like his Magnetic Tempest and throw in the comic books? Or are those moves completely made up?
And should his dash be really that fast?
