  • Foolish, but learning.
Heard a lot of people in different places bad-mouthing the Street Fighter EX series.

Never has a reason been given.

Figure I should ask.

EX3 and the team system might cause issues, but I've played 1 and 2, and can't understand why the dislike.

Explain, please?

Where did you read that? I would say my main concern is having the game not canon whatsoever, when there was a considerable effort put into it. The storlyine, while being completely alternative to the SF universe, was not bad; and some of the characters were nice aditions.

More over, on the gameplay department, it's more fun than some of the stuff that was released even afterwards. Very combo friendly, various level super arts ... I like EX2 better than the first 2 Alphas and all the VS :)

I don't get the EX hate either. The people who say they hate it never ever made a reason about it.

Me, I loved playing EX2. Area was my best character.

All the excuse I've heard is "Because it's in 3D" which is a stupid reason to hate a Game.

* Some supers for the Original 12 were great (Blanka, Gief and Guile come to mind)
* Shin Kairi he had a shifting stance if you reached LV3, concept never explored before
* Super Cancels from air hits were great for comboability
* Epic PLANETARY super finish BGs
* Vertical Spin Hit Anim was funny.
* SKULLOMANIA

I never found the reasons why people hated the EX series either, they were fun for a while and I couldn't find any flaws in them.

When I went to the arcade years ago, there was a EX2 Plus machine, and everytime I went to it, D.Dark was always the Top fighter

Interesting enough, IIRC these games came out and gained notoriety at the time 3D game graphics started getting better, and some of the models for EXs looked very poligonal. If you can see past the fact that it looks somewhat outdated, a very fun game lies beneath :)

I played the crap out of EX 1 when it 1st came out...

I am not even 100% sure why I didn't like the EX series. I remember really really disliking EX3 though. (Never played 2)

I have the game still, I can't remember what I really disliked so much... I just never played it I guess. I remember playing it and not enjoying it for (insert random reasons?)

I love the ex games!
The first one the most!
I mean just check out the awesome rocking soundtrack!
And please: "Kairi", You could play volleyball with Your opponent and go mad with supers LOL.
He´s so awesome!
Or Allen Snider LOL, his special grab is too cool, I think it was HCF, Back + Kick, hit opponent into the air, jump after, 3 kicks into the stomach (DA! DA! DAA!!) and bye bye!
And the stylish ways the characters got hit, I love that!

  • I'mma Luigi, numbara one!
I remember being in Rhodes and they had a PS1 with a Demo playing.  It was one of the EX games, the intro had M. Bison (Vega for you Weeaboos) standing, doing his laugh, and Ryu was doing his stance, readying for a hadoken.  I thought it was the next gen Street Fighter, when it really was an alternate timeline.
No  Dark Sean and Gouken are Good characters

The short answer is the gameplay (mostly hit detection and jumping) isn't remotely as tight as the 2D games.
I liked EX2+ though, and wish that those combo challenges would transition to some "real" SF games.

I like the approach they gave the game intro about Sagat Tiger - Ryu Dragon, I don't know if their rivalry has been explicitly explored from that angle, but it was great.

KoF Maximum Impact 1-2 seem to get similar hate due to the story as well as the fact that it is 3D. Its too bad! Oh well, their loss.

The only reason I dislike EX is that I couldn't do so much as a single Hadouken. Fucking Playstation 2.

i like the first ex and ex2 i don`t have a reason to hate ex3 but i played it less than the first 2....even if it is not  canon in the history there is a lot to discover in those series.....look i maded blair dame sprites like 3 or 4 or 5 times and i would like to port other chars like kairi(sfex2) garuda. C. jack the main problem to me rigth now is time(don`t have enough free time anymore) those games never needed a history.....correction....fighting games never needed a history;read a book or a manga for that matter ....do anyone have a "txt" file with all the history of sfex ..??? honestly i never knew about the whole plot of ex(probably i am not interested)and still i would play it again in zome emu....

Okay, what the fuck does it matter to you people if some guys want a fighting game to have a story.

Game is slow, characters and movements look stiff, combos seem stiff, gameplay feels all around heavy.

people said the EX series sucked because it is 3-D and it was diffrent from the other SF games. they judged it befoe they even played it. i on the other hand liked all 3 of them. its fun as hell.

I played EX and EX2 a LOT. Seriously, a LOT. Never disliked any aspect of them. The bonus stage in EX2 was a blast: Never before you could piledrive a barrel drum :D !!!

Yeah I guess that's the reason everyone is hating SF4 right now, since it's 3D and different from the rest of the series and nobody around here has played it yet, amirite ??
Oh wait, SF4 is not hated.
The EX series simply suffers from the same problem most 3D fighting games of that era had : slow, not easy to pull off whatever you want whenever you want. An example is in the barrel bonus stage, when you get knocked off, then just getting up and turning around is slow and stiff, pulling a reversal was all you could do to save yourself from being trampled repeatedly, and you could only do it blindly and hope it'd work. Now the problem is, that was okay in SFEX1 since it was the same for all games, but they kept the same engine through the series.
If I struggled to the end of my determination, to the end of my way of life with my followers, if the result is ruin, then this ruin is inevitable. Grieve. Shed tears. But you cannot regret.

This is pretty much the thing with the EX series. Although I did think the game was fun for a little while the slow/stiffness of the game made me stop playing it. Oh and like other people I really loved the combo training for each character in EX2 (especially vega/bison) and I also wish they would bring that into the actual street fighters

I always shine!

EX 1 and 2 were good games.. and never doubt despite it graphics was polygons but i think if it could be like what Tekken and Sf4 graphics presentaion it would be better.

Its mechanics were fine and lots of cool console stuff.

I don't like EX 3 its arcade mode thing is fully undeveloped to play like the typical arcade modes.

Its Tag mode i was thinking thats why it was not fully developed to play like the typically arcade because it my rival up with another full capcom title the RIVAL SCHOOLs.

That why SFEX3 become only a exclusive PS3 game no arcade port  o_O.

i guess if its arcade mode were developed like other it would become a Hit to bad.

if the gameplay is still the same as other SF games there is no other reason for others to hate it.
What are you, stupid ? Where did I say it was the same as the other SF games ?

only problem that people hate it is because its either 3-D or its not cannon to the storyline

I kinda liked EX, mainly for the characters. I love Blair Dame, full figured fighting chicks for the win.
