They did some server mantainance on Monday night that should have fixed it for everyone by now.

Trophies are super easy to get. All of them are stuff you're going to end up doing anyway except for the accesories one, since you need to play master quests for those and even then, level 9-10 is enough to get you through the first few and get at least one accessory for each slot.

Serious questions: Is this thing worth downloading, is it fun playing? Is there any sort of story in the game?

Is not worth in my opinion. You spent most of the time reading menus and in loading screens, the dificulty is really unfair, you fight  normally agains teams  of of 4  or five fighters with  just one life bar ( two if you count your second character ) if you break the opponent clothes , their lifebar regenerates. If happens that you lose with the last opponent of the team you lose also all the items gained in the previous fights at least that you use a ticket that allows you to fight again with the oponent that beat you, but the tickets you have to buy them (you just have one for free) Till now I haven't seen any trace of story maybe  because I haven't advanced very much( just get to the third quest), but even if there is story I doubt is worth  to know it, since Pyrrha appears as she looks in soul calibur V and Taki appears as young as she always looks while Mitsurugi appears in his "old man" form, so probably is just like a dream match sort of thing. If you have any of the previous games( even soull blade) you'll have more fun with them.

Thanks a lot. That post saved me the time to try it out.

Another thing, how is the music? Are they from the older games or are there new /arranged/remixed tracks + are they good?

Well as I said, I spent more time on the menus and loading screens, I don't remember right know which music themes  played in battle, but surely  are from soul calibur V since the stages are recycled from it. the music that played  where you are selecting something from the menus is the theme from create a soul section of soul calibur V and the loading screen theme might be new, is a kind of gregorian chant, very boring, next time I play it i will pay more attention to that but I don't expect something  relevant.

The difficulty is unfair because you're forced to grind for better equipment. You're supposed to craft your equipment to make it better until you find even better gear.

The story is that Sieg and Mare's fight in SCIV caused the swords to break and their power proceeded to create a screw up in the space time continuum. The text before you undertake a quest tell the rest of the story, like how your character realizes that he/she is not part of this world and tries to figure out how to get back.

And all the music is from SCV

I haven't bothered with this since the server issue (don't think I ever will, too busy irl).

Hoshino explains why Lost Swords is single-player.

Quote
Why was it decided that Lost Swords would be singleplayer only?

Hoshino: The reason that we went singleplayer…well, originally, we were thinking about having a multiplayer option, but because we’re going with a pay-to-win model, we were worried that by having online multiplayer, for all the new users that would be coming in experiencing the game for the first time, they might be immediately deterred by fighting against opponents who had superior equipment and gear—and we didn’t want to have that kind of negative impact on new players.

In the singleplayer experience, having a pay-to-win structure won’t impede the player’s experience with the game.

Patroklos is following his sister and his mother’s footsteps by becoming a playable character in Soulcalibur: Lost Swords. Like Sophitia, Patroklos fights with a short sword and shield.

Players will be able to get Patraoklos as a playable character in the free to play fighting game through a quest which will be available at least in Japan today. A quest to get  Hilde for players that missed her will be available too. Bandai Namco Games also added new Angel Armor to Soulcalibur: Lost Swords.

Wow that armor is so hideous it's offensive.

Hey look it's that guy I couldn't give two shits about.
Sophitia is looking unquestionably sexy though.

Wish I could say something with a little more substance.

Well, it's not as if fans were asking for a game like this in the first place. :P

Ah well; as long as they continue with the Sophitia/Phyrra/Taki fanservice, I guess this game isn't completely useless. Of course I'd rather see all of this in an actual fighting game.

Pat and Hilde are available regardless of region. Namco is syncing their updates on all regions after what happened when they didn't in Tekken Revolution.

Wow... so I just learned how unlocking characters work in this game.

poster from gamefaqs said:
There is a roughly bi-weekly rotation of what characters are available to unlock, although those three starter characters are always available. They repeat the events after a while, the maintenance periods usually signal the new events.

Tihhh, what a pain. The least they could've done is let you choose whoever you want as the starter character.

I just wish it coulda been Talim

Fuck her, where the hell is my darling Cassandra?!

Now now, both are perfectly good choices.

Hahaha, it gets better.

If you're starting out, don't even bother trying to get another character early as even in the easiest difficulty, the AI will be decent enough to take out your lifebar over the multiple fights you must go through.

You'll probably have to have reached the first Epilogue in the normal missions to have a good shot at just Normal difficulty.

You'll have to do some serious grinding for the harder difficulties, because they're tougher, have higher stats and there are more to defeat.

And then there's the fact you have to Soul Break(Deplete a special lifebar during their soul burst[Berserk aggresive mode] in 15 seconds) the playable character for a CHANCE at unlocking him/her with the % determined by difficulty.

Normal - 5-10%ish
Hard - 40%ish
Very Hard - 75%ish
