THIS...Reinhold_H said, September 11, 2013, 01:20:24 pmThey are destroying the SC series with every new part. Good that SCII HD is released this year too.And THIS...Mgbenz said, September 11, 2013, 01:41:18 pmNamco treats the SC series as an unwanted stepchild.I feel that the series peaked with 2, which is a shame because Namco has something truly special on it's hands here, and with that I mean the franchise itself. PLaying the first one in the arcade for the first time was truly magical. With that said, I cannot wait for SC2 online.
I terms of quality really SCII was the peak of the series. SCIII had way too much bugs and it was so easy to get your save file corrupted.Still SCIII is my favorite. Loads of unlockable content is my one weakness in games.
SCIII had the - in my opinion - best solo player modes of them all, the onloy small complaint i would have about the story mode would be that the most part of the story was told with text and that there were no really unique cutscenes beside the endings. That other story mode there with a few strategic elements was not too bad either and entertaining for at least one playthrough.SoulEdge/Calibur always had the best fighting game background story for me after Mortal Kombat (yes..thats no joke..its my opinion) and was much more interesting than everything about Heihachi and Kazuya, Ryu, Ken and M.Bison or even the Orochi Power in the older KOF games. SCIV was already a massive dissapointment for me, i played SCV but never felt like i need to buy it.I won so many online matches that it became boring to me did not even touch ttt2 now since over a month. When i buy a fighting game today i do it more for the solo modes than anythng else.

SCIII had way too much bugs and it was so easy to get your save file corrupted.Still SCIII is my favorite. Loads of unlockable content is my one weakness in games. You guys make some very valid points and comments.Mortal Kombat was my childhood favorite, so I hear you on that. I started playing it with the genesis conversion of the first MK since I couldn't get to arcades that often. The same was said for part two (I had the crappy Genesis conversion, which led to a SNES purchase for MK2 and Super Metroid). When MK3 was around, I played that one a lot in the arcades and it was awesome. Then Ultimate came out, and that's when the series started to feel milked and dry to me. And seriously, Scorpion's animality was fucking stupid. Really!?Soul Calibur did easily peak w/part 2, which is a total shame due to all of that squandered potential Namco is doing a horrible job on. I didn't play too much of 3 because it felt rather odd for my tastes (I did hear a lot of good things about the story mode though). I also felt that the art direction for 3 was simply terrible. I did purchase part 4 though, but after spending a solid amount of time with it, I came to the conclusion that a majority of the gameplay was broken and cheap. It also felt slower than what I was used to, which is pretty much part 1 and 2.
http://gematsu.com/2013/09/soulcalibur-lost-swords-debut-screenshotsQuoteNamco Bandai has released the first few screenshots of Soulcalibur: Lost Swords, its upcoming free-to-play fighter for PlayStation Network. The images show returning characters Siegfried Schtauffen an Mitsurugi Heishiro.Lost Swords will be at the Tokyo Game Show this week. Expect new information soon.
So, since they seem to have custom parts in alternating shots, I feel sure that Namco'll keep us grinding for Create-A-Soul unlocks.

this game feels like the same thing project soul did with soul caliber 4 when they made soul calibur: broken destiny another soul calibur 5 game update and maybe a new guest character?
DKDC said, September 17, 2013, 06:55:11 pmWhich shots ? I don't see it, there's only two shots. What I mean is:In one shot we have Misturugi in his SCV outfit doing his AA on a Zweihander-wielder wearing plenty of recognizable armour, if you played around with CAS a lot.Whereas in the other shot we have a guy with different yet familiar armour and a katana sheathe on his left, getting sliced at the side by Siegfried. It seems like Mitsu and Sieg are switching in and out of their vanilla & custom costumes in both shots. And to see those kinds of custom costumes on them should only remind someone of Create A Soul, and bring out the idea that we may, in fact, customize our favourite characters or even make our own.Customization became such a fan favourite in Soul Calibur V. Wouldn't it make sense to add the mode and further peak consumer interest?
QuoteI terms of quality really SCII was the peak of the series.that`s right,...but something i liked about soulcalibur 3 was the stages haven`t seen again soo well designed backgrounds(most are remakes from first soulcalibur) ....not the point here but a mix of characters from soulcalibur 1 and 2(3dmodels) in stages from soulcalibur 3 would be perfect with a hd treatment ...also rented sc5 and played it on my brother's ps3......now that`s a nice way to f***k up these series ...

I figured it was some sort of "generic enemy" because they look so, well, generic.

soulblade (souledge) was the best one on the strength of it amazing intro and musicsame as tekken 2 for the same reasons (well its a strong tie between 2 and 3 for me really)
Why is Namco making a single-player only Soul Calibur?QuoteNamco has explained the thinking behind its decision to make a single-player only Soul Calibur with Lost Swords, a free-to-play beat 'em-up that's coming to PlayStation 3 next year.In a pre-Tokyo Game Show briefing Namco announced that Heihachi and Siegfried would star in the game, and Sophitia - a character absent in Soul Calibur 5 - would also be making a return.Soul Calibur Lost Swords is a traditional one-on-one beat 'em-up that introduces new features to the series, including elemental gems that can be added to customize weapons. It is a single player only experience, a decision that producer Masaki Hoshino explained to Eurogamer."This was done intentionally because as we said people do enjoy fighting other people, but one thing we noticed with the Soul Calibur fanbase is that a lot of people really enjoyed the game for its story, setting and atmosphere," Hoshino said. "They didn't like playing against other people - when you lose it's not exactly a great feeling. So we decided to tailor something to this player base.""This might seem unusual, but we've done a lot of research and noticed the Soul Calibur group was different to Tekken. That group like fighting against each other, whereas Soul Calibur fans really want to look at the characters and enjoy the atmosphere, and we had an overwhelming response in that direction, so that's why we chose that."Hoshino said that fans who are after a competitive Soul Calibur can play the soon to be released HD remake of Soul Calibur 2, which is headed for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.There is no Wii U version planned, but when asked whether it'd be possible for a Nintendo version of the game that would feature Link, a guest character in the GameCube original, Hoshino said he was open to the idea if fan demand was there.Source: Eurogamer
This is why I don't play SC anymore, apparently I'm not fan enough because I'd rather fight other people than unintelligent AI.
But the SC games offered a lot more more for the competitive players in the last 5 years than single players?
