Yeah. I went to far with that. It's because knowing people who do it for a living and a friend who recently got hurt badly doing it fueled that reaction from me.Especialy useing that arguement above all else.
Cyanide for admin?Or decide on no change apart from me being no longer really here? Change some policies? is there anything in the forums getting out of hands that might need thinking about?is everything ok? what was up with KOD? can i help with something? what's going on?ask yourself some questions like that instead of going into the xth re-rerun of the old arguments with old users
I'd like to see Cyanide as admin if he's up for it, has the right balance of people skills and development favouring (much like you, heh).
Cyanide could be a good admin, but there is nothing wrong with the guild that wasnt happening before, just a few troubling users here and there.
If your going to do it Cyanide is the one.Don't see it as necessary though Titlin is online most of the time and makes good choices. I hear these people complaining for both sides of the coin: You put up with something and handle it with out a ban then they call you weak and then you ban someone and they say you're a Nazi. We will never be able to make everyone happy, adding an admin will make some happy and then the same amount won't be.I wouldn't mind having more guidelines to follow but then again there is no fix all for every situation that pops up. Example: that pages of banning that was brought up was most likely one guy that we had to ban several times.
We need less hierarchy and more useful people.Who cares if they have the title or not? Boards are all about creating an atmosphere, Cyanide contributes to the part of the forum where people can come to ask for help. Putting the pressure on him to be an Admin is unnecessary as long as he continues to contribute in his way.
Valodim said, August 27, 2008, 11:21:24 pmalso, admins tend to lose motivation fast. would be a shame Yup. I haven't done much since the last forum "takeover".
Just need a direction to go with the youtube/random/4chan people. There really seems to be a lot of people wanting to post random things in MANY topics. Maybe I am more jaded now and it is the same as it always has been, but it doesn't feel like it.I don't think it is Guild's atmosphere... well, not as much... atmosphere is surely aiding the problem the more it persists-more new members seem to do this.I know the ban list is getting large (though half is probably that Reezy guy), but many of these members do not wish to change even after being asked. It's like a race to post the most with a handful of them. My method is patience and discussion. I wonder at times if I am allowing too much patience... maybe not enough discussion with the user. But like Sepp, my time here isn't what it used to be. And discussing over and over with several "bad posting" users gets quite time consuming.Oh yeah +1 Cyanide for adminWorst part about the admins we want for Guild is that their priorities with a game making forum are not very high. Which is what we generally want in the admin, otherwise they get "consumed".

-972 Cyanide for adminQuoteCyanide contributes to the part of the forum where people can come to ask for help. Putting the pressure on him to be an Admin is unnecessary as long as he continues to contribute in his way.Agreed, i do not wish adminship on myself at all. I'm sticking with mod of dev help, it requires little real modding and i can continue to enjoy the forums as there's no reason for me to get involved in anything major. As i stated when you G modded us all, i only wanted it for damage control. I'm on during the "all the mods are asleep, lets spam" time of day. I hate seeing that happen to the forum. I like the atmosphere here. I've seen what happens when people secularise themselves. The forum kills itself and a small group of friends wind up only discussing stuff personally via PM, MSN or IRC. That doesn't help mugen grow. And by grow i don't mean more people, i mean more people interested in developing good work.Being, Mrev, Blargh.net are all good examples of what happens when you cut down your member base. 1 fight between members = death because they're probably what's keeping the forum going in the first place.Nice to know i'm appreciated though
Don't mind Raaja being in. *But having to be GM here and admin on my lively forum?! Not sure he could handle it all!!!**Denotes major sarcasmShamrock get too trigger happy?
I don't mind Shamrock out, even if he gets on my nerves on 67% of the time I read him I would like to know if he was given any feedback? I personally think he definitely gained a lot of notoriety after being appointed as Staff, and may have lost some of the characteristics that made him a valuable member in the first place + his posting got too rambly and senseless.Raja seems like a pretty melow guy, but kinda bland for this position. If there's still the "fresh blood" strategic policy, I guess it's ok, but all in all I don't think he has what it takes, he seems oblivious and out of the play most of the time, unless I'm being unconciously selective on the posts I decide to read from him.
Shamrock is active and actually works out stuff, even if he makes mistakes from times to times he is direct, honest and points out his actions properly.I would sooner remove any of the "ghost" mods.
Dunno, wasnt here, I would take a wild guess it was due to conflicting views with the then new rules? Also, at the expense of much hate on this suggestion, egor or Oz could also make good mods if new ones are really all that needed.I wouldnt get rid of shamrock even with new ones tho, he has a more extreme personality that goes against most passive ones we have. Makes discussions more balanced.Heres a thought, we could try to check our access local times and see if there is any period where we would need to reinforce , and use that as a basis for the search of a new staff member.
