This is a multi layered question.
Some factors include:
Number of quality of games
Coding ease
Coding capability
Physical performance (ie, crapping out, freezing etc.)

Most people will vote on number of quality games, but a long time ago I had a brief correspondence with a couple of programmers from Akklaim and they said that Nintendo was tops when it came to ease of coding. The Playstation was a nightmare and Sega wasn't all that hot either.

I'm gonna side with the N64 and the SNES because I had the least trouble with them running properly and had the most fun over a wide variety of games. I'll admit that I only played a handful of PS2 games and only 2 Xbox games. I haven't touched any of the new systems outside of in-store demos.

The 1st topic was funnier. :P

Expanding on The Doctor's post, even if you consider only the number of quality games, some consoles have certain types of games they're better at than other consoles.
- Saturn was much better at handling 2D than the PSX, while the PSX was much better for 3D. The Saturn also accepts RAM cartridges, so it was much better to play games such as X-Men VS SF and the such.
- Dreamcast was a beast for Arcade games, mainly because porting from Naomi to DC was the easiest thing. However, if you were looking for race simulations, realistic sports games, or real RPGs (apart from Skies of Arcadia, and to an extent, Grandia 2), you had to go to the concurrence.

Coding ease, and even the hardware itself, doesn't really count to me. PS2 was a nightmare to code for, it had very few video capacity (less than the DC ?), didn't have 4 pads without an adapter, etc. but it still is the console on which I have the most games, because everybody developed for it.

Physical performance : grade F for XBox 360. Grade E for the Dreamcast.

I really liked the PSX and the PS2 back in the day (wait....I still do)
It had the best line of games ever.
The SNES was pretty good too.
I don't know why people praise th Dreamcast so much, I sold it for ten bucks because it couldn't keep me interested (Yeah it had the best fighters, but I don't like Sega games that much)

Nah, that's your opinion.
The Dreamcast doesn't have Metal Gear Solid (Stop here, the PS2 wins), FF, Gran Turismo, God Of War, Jak, R&C, Okami and oher games that the Dreamcast will never have.
It was a great system that was ahead of it's time, it had some gems, don't get me wrong, but thats just it.

I play it at a friend's house, SSF4 in a good pad (charge characters are impossible in an XBox Pad). Most definitely will buy a new one as soon as there's enough funding.

Yeah the PS3 pad is definately better than the 360's one, while the triggers are better on the 360.
I heard they will drop the price later this year, But I'm not sure how much.
Good luck with buying a new one, Its a shame that something that expensive like a PS3 gets stolen.

I don't have a favorite system.

But I do have a favorite game available for every system (mutually exclusive releases/ports and all).

But then again I grew up on SNES , Dreamcast, and PS1/2 so :P
i cant count the reasons i should stay

one by one they all just fade away...

for me SNES, it is the pinaccle of gaming console,
I was growing in atari & NES era, so in my mind, game is not about hyper realistic, and immersive graphic. it's just game, and how to beat it, together with friends.
so our fav genre was 2player side scrolling, and fighting, and also game like bikermice from mars.
I actually like Sega genesis, for that matter, but SNES just have better gamepad, and better sound.

game titles nowadays apart from fighting games abandon that 2 players fun factor, and go for online mode, not enough title out there that support 2 players cooperative gameplay that can be played with our real friends.
