the blacklist is a crime drama series that started airing in september 2013. it stars james spader as the very mysterious raymond reddington, a former agent who later became a fugitive who later turned himself in to the fbi, providing information on criminals in exchange for benefits and information to further his own agenda. his first demand is to only communicate with rookie profiler elizabeth keen (played by megan boone).

i'm not going to further talk about the plot because that falls into spoiler territory, but i recently started watching this show and it quickly became a favorite, even though spader's character seems a bit OP (he knows about absolutely fucking everything and is also super clever and witty). does anyone here watch this show

I watched it, and it was absolutely awesome but Spader's character is pretty much OP.

to be fair he shows plenty of vulnerability in later episodes, but for the most part? op as hell.

Yes! I was waiting for this thread to be opened, I freaking love this show, Spader's fantastic and Liz is badass (and beautiful), I'm pretty sure there's something funny about Tom, and his new friend.
Thanks Watta for the sig and avi.

I didn't even see this thread! :( I got into this show a while back and fell in love with it. Spader is an awesome Actor.

It makes me think of house but in a spy-thriller atmosphere kinda-sorta-maybe-but-not-really. There's so many what if's and plenty of different stories they can tell that it's been wonderful.

The Good Samaritan, pretty good Blacklister IMO, better than the Alchemist who was kind of a let down at the end.
Should I spoiler this?
Thanks Watta for the sig and avi.

I like the show. James Spader own so hard & steal every scene he is in. But that's also downsidee of the show. I mean he carry all weight of series alone. Red is such overpowered character. He always know what to say, how to act, what to do and others mostly follow him. He sometimes feel like God-type of character to me. It would be good to show he can make mistakes or being wrong too sometimes. FBI team looks like bunch of idiots compared to him and they act exactly like that, especially that blond dude Ressler... I would kick him out of the show so bad. I mean they are here mostly as obstacles for Red to overcome or lackey support for him. I wouldn't mind having some other badass character in the show. It would balance everything nicely and put off some weight from Spader.

I like villians so far but there is big flaw is how they portray them. Most of them are show as inteligent, nearly genius, able to cover their tracks near down to perfection, and thats until they cross path with Red & FBI Team (which is beginning of every episode). Since that point villians starts to make stupid mistakes (which is totally out of character) and they ends up catched, killed or in jail by Red and/or Lizzy.

As for Lizzy I hate her plot with husband & adoption thing. It's so boring and predictable they should remove it altogether and let her focus on FBI work. I wonder if Red is her father. He denied, but he could be lying. And it would be big cliche, but if he is not her father it would be let down a bit too...

I like this show. I missed a lot of episodes since it didn´t catched my interest until I saw General Ludd (and that even was my accident). The show is pretty damn entertaining and really good in context, love seeing this enemies that some could be super villains of some sort. Guess I have to catch up the previous episodes.

The Cyprus Agency was quite disturbing. So far it is great. Looking forward to the rest... if it wasn´t for Canal Sony >:(

I should try to get into this show.  The first episode had me skeptical, because Red felt too much like Hannibal Lector to me.
But I've got a bit of catching up to do and I'm more into Person of Interest.

Working on personal projects and spending less (non anime watching) time on internet.

You're just going to have to PM me if I get chosen
for the question thread.

MY MAN, MY MAN, Brofist brother. PoI is way, way better show than any procedural which is currently aired, Beats Arrow, Blacklist, The Mentalist, Castle, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and stuff by a mile. Johanthan Nolan is genius just like his brother.

a good show, but some characters are really useless or might be better in hand of better actors
that character Harold Cooper is unfitting as director of a secret agent branch, he is more like diplomats, has no brightness at all, no aura of power, not even intuitive, how did he get there?

Raymond Reddington is over the top, he is too much in everything, the way he starts conversations by overwhelming the person he talks to with wittiness or by jumping from one topic to the next as if people he talks to are all dumb and they are dumb enough to play along, and how the whole agency of secret agents are depending on him as a single source of information, there should be another assets to counterweight his importance, what if this guy dies or switches side, or getting too greedy with the price he asks for his info, seems like there is no plan B, these agents have no leverage at all against him. They didn't even plant GPS on him, come on that is impossible , his status is still a criminal, they can make him feel free to go or to get around his contacts but they should have eye and ears directly, so they also get an idea about his own plan, or if he has secret that can be used to press or negotiate with him.

Elisabeth Keen character is fine, has good balance, good intuitive, I like her

and I also like Tom
