Excellent. I'd definitely like to see the EX versions outside of the game.

  • Great, can't even get my avatar working...
Yay! New sabotage outfit! Is there a guide or something i can find for him? He is my favorite character, yet im not all that good at playing as him.

Will there be new moves for old characters? That would be nice.

***August 9th, 2010***

Just released the updated Snow/EX Snow (go to this topic: http://mugenguild.com/forumx/index.php?topic=119129.0). On to Kane Kelly, than all that's left is Sabotage, Bloodtide, and Wyldestar.

Seriously, if there's anybody that is adept or competent at the CVS-Style of spriting that would be willing to help me with these last characters' updates, I would greatly appreciate it. All it consists of is updating old sprites to the new style. The pictures above give you an idea of how they are updated, so it's not a tremendous amount of work, it's just that I'm getting so tired of updating these old sprites. I could have made like 3 or 4 new characters in the time it's taken me to do this. My own fault, I know, but still, I'm ready to work on other stuff, and I'm so close to done that I can't stop now. I would try to make it up to you, if I could.

That looks pretty decent from afar. I wish someone could help me out with these though. Don't worry though, when SHADEs 2 is finished, I will be updating Snake and Rorschach's sprites just like I have for the SHADEs characters.

Anyway, here's a new update.

***August 25th Update***

I've finished updating all of Kane's sprites, as well as his gameplay. This probably doesn't mean much to most of you since Kane was never released, but I'm pretty proud of it because I thought Kane would take forever, and I managed to get all of his sprites updated in about 4 days (not straight obviously). Here's how he turned out:

Sprite Comparison:

Old ------------------------------------------------ New

Note that I changed his palette a bit, and also redrew his face using the suggestions Walt made in his character thread. So credit to him for that, because it does look better IMO.

Since then, I've moved onto updating Wyldestar's sprites. There's a bit of history with this character, so I'm being careful. She's also got a brand new voice, done by Rina-Chan (not the stock voices she posted, but actual original voice work). Here's how she's looking:

Old ------------------------------------------------ New

Her stance may change so it's not the exact same stance that Annie from ROTD has. A lot of specials will change because I've realized over time that she is too much like Annie. So, rather than redesign her character or change all those sprites, I've decided to change many of her moves. I figure if she's going to look so much like Annie, she should at least play differently.

Let me know what you guy's think.

Thanks :)

Great updates, but... the Wyldestar's face, I don't like it :(
So... I try... :ninja:

And another question, any news of Sabotage? ;D

I think you made her eyes too big, personally. Thanks though!

Also, Sabotage will be next, after Wyldestar is done. I saved him and Bloodtide for last since they are getting more extensive updates. Then all that will be left to do in the sprite department is finishing the sprites for Det. Laurel.

Personally I'm more interested in Kane since he never got a standalone release (embarrassingly I never got myself to play SHADES 1, despite playing with what was standalone released and loving it. :innocent:), but hey, Wyldestar was nice.

The sprites themselves need updating. More color depth and anti-aliasing like my latest sprites would look good on him, and would make him blend in better with other comic book characters floating around. He also could use some other gameplay updates and some bug fixes. Thanks for the praise though!

***Update 9/3/2010 - Sabotage***

Kist thought I'd share with you guys that not only have I started updating Sabotage's sprites, but he's been given a redesign. Not completely redesigned, but more or less I've made his outfit mor einteresting while still keeping the general look and style of the old one. I'm going to post three versions, with the three palettes I'm trying to decide on for his default palette. I can't decide which I like better, so I'll let you guys give me some input. I've included some of his completed animations so you can compare them more thoroughly:

Let me know what you guys think.

Those sprites are fantastic! The animations are very smooth.

I like the 2nd palette.

Palette two but with the color set of palette 1 (switched) would be my personal choice.

I'm not sure I understand. Are you saying you like #2 but you would rather me do palette #1 but with the blue and white switched? Just trying to clarify.
