I have grown tired with the current "God" character trend.
So I have decided to make the most super mega powerful ultimate god character ever created.
GOD

To ensure that God is respected, I am making God invinsible, you can't even hurt it.
The goal to fighting God is merely surviving the fight.
The fight will last anywhere from 30 secs to a minute
If after that time you're still alive, God will allow you to live.

God's model will consist of an enormous Godly being in the background, with some celestial body serving as the actual fighter.
Perhaps an angel or a sword or Master hand, or some other holy body.

I plan to make God's attacks so unfairly insane, that one will have to take great care to dodge as well as block.

I plan to do God in a Guilty Gear style.

I would appreciate any suggestions on:

  • The appearance of God in the background
  • The appearance of God's helper
  • Some possible attacks for God

 Sounds interesting. For attacks, the actual thing fighting could use lightning or light orbs to attack, seeing as how both are associated with the idea of God. Hmm.... I wouldn't use Master Hand though, because it would just seem like a God Masterhand and not God himself. And for strikers (those are helper characters, right? I'm a little out of touch.) you coud have other religion's gods, like the Flying Spaghetti Monster or Buddha. Happy New Year and good luck!

Taken into consideration.
I will probably use the lightning and light orbs idea.


BTW: I will have the model in the background react to most attacks, and actively participate in others.

I was going to make a god character as well, but it was more work than I cared for. I drew up some sprites, Like huge hands, that maybe you can use.

Maybe the helpers could be Jesus, Mary and other characters from the Bible Fight game. Kronos ripped their sprites (they're hosted at Jango's site IINM), so you could look at them.

The idea is semi-original (seeing the actual trend), but I like it. :D

Also, would you consider making two versions of this character : one where people using a normal roster would have to survive, and a "Godly God" version, where those using God Orochi and other cheap chars would have to survive.

seems more like a bonus game than a character

I was thinking of having the background sprite reach up off screen and having a giant hand come down on the opponent.
I have a lot ideas using giant hands actually  o_O
But that would be a huge help.

I appreciate that and actually I'm not a religious guy either.

Also you have the right to create whatever you want within the legal boundary here, but this is just my personal suggestion. If you're creating a religious character, I suggest you stick with one religion per character. Otherwise, I can sense the thread turning into a "my god > your god" thread. (Who wants to see that?)

Angels and the like as allies/helpers?

If you can lay hands on it, the Guardian Heroes 'Sky Warrior'(Basically an angel) would fit rather well.  Though there are likely better 'Angel' sprites out there....

Interestingly, there is a 'God' from Bible Fight in existance.  Very big on projectiles.  Trivia-his throw HEALS the opponent.(Well, God is merciful as well as judgemental...)

....Actually....most....call them 'varients'...of God are big on the punishments and smiting.  What can we expect?  Swarms of beasts?  Floods?  Flash Fires?  Lightning?  'Pillar of Salt' insta-kill?  This is the Lord of Creation, you can pretty much justify ANYTHING he pulls.

Well....

I'm working on 2 other projects at the same time, so this one has taken a semi backseat position, seeing as I am a little unsure what I have in mind.

As a Christian, I have to protest that. God is a transcendent, pan-religious being, not centred on just Christianity. Therefore, his should have strikers from outside Christianity as well. Maybe Buddha, a couple of those Hindu Gods, something like that. Keep Jesus, though! It might be hard because those other characters might not have any sprites. But this is just a crazy, religiously inclusive suggestion.

As for that, I'm guessing something like 95% of all MUGEN characters are fictitious. There are a few real ones. Shaq, Michael Jackson, Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan. This will just be an addition too that small group of existing characters. :sugoi:

Ah....I don't know about that, speaking as a player.  What I mean is, it should be not only possible to survive, but decently probable.  I'm in this for fun, not frustration, and I think that's true of 95% of the population of Mugen-Land.  A survival test of sorts sounds decently fun.  A 'BAM-You're-dead-try-harder' really does not.(Rare Akuma is JUST barely silly enough to get away with it, and I still find him equal parts fun and obnoxious for the most part.)

Just....be careful.  If nothing else, include ways to mod the difficulty.

Being a gamer myself, I understand completely where you are coming from.
I have quit games out of frustration after meeting "very difficult" (also known as cheap) enemies or challenges.
The game seems to laugh at you.  :'(

When it comes down to it, being invincible will probably portray God's supreme power just as well as impossible game play would.

I still plan on making him hard, but not on the level that the Orochi's or the rest of the god characters are.

Most changes in difficulty would be determined by how long the match is.

Seeing as God is invincible, time will directly effect the chances of winning.

I guess it could be triggered by author names.
I also guess it could be possible to trigger a stat change if the character had a certain name.
I wouldn't know personally, I've never tried it.
