I dont remember correctly, but I heard something like the Author of the original Mugen character "Kirby" wanted to do something as retarded as try and copywrite his "Kirby" character.

Doesnt he know that the actual character "Kirby" is copywritten by Nintendo? Wont he be sued for Fraud?

I just cant believe someone could possibly be as Retarded as to think he could copywrite a character that is already copywritten....

Anyways, I would like to know more on the story, Who the author is, and how this whole thing came to be.

If someone knows about this, please fill me in ^_^

I find the whole thing funny.  ;P

There's already been a thread on this subject a while back.

And Laxxe claimed copyright on coding, not on Kirby.

Thats correct, you can sell the coding perfectly well. Noone would wanna buy it without the sprites. Generally noone takes it as far as Laxxe did either and many of us feel that it was a bit stupid. Especially as the host involved weren't taking the character down because of the code but were removing it due to it being kirby. That was all that was involved.

@Cy: Actually Zodiac himself confirmed on his forum the character was removed because his hosts looked in it and saw the blatant "do not host" bits. That came up before the second time it got taken down.

It's still bullshit he reported them to their host the second time for someone posting an e-snips link to kirby.  Like they really had any control over that.

Even if Laxxe represented a company, he likely wouldn't get sued for fraud.  The funny thing about laws is that you have to take into consideration how those laws are enforced.  For instance, it's illegal to download most copyrighted stuff, but people don't go to jail or get fined in proportion to the number of people commiting the crime.  Something like this wouldn't be prosecuted or even considered for fraud.  There are much better things to worry about than a crappy Mugen character.  If anything, Laxxe has the best chances of getting charged with defamation of intellectual property. :P

Many people risk their lives everyday by having Mugen.

and most likely, even fictional charges will work in the sense that most of us can't pay a lawyer for a stupidhobbie like this so we would comply with whatever the real copyright owner wants us to do.
