If you've read the books, the question makes more sense.  In the written world, the students all wear pointy hats.  I think they were only around for the first movie.

Should they be in the game?

I'd think they'd take away from each character's individuality, which they don't have much of in the first place. (Design wise.) Not to mention, the in-game hats look kind of silly... --;

I'd say no, but a good idea would be to make them optional via config file or whatever.

Considerig that you're aiming at a younger fanbase, hats don't look out of place imo.

I asked my kids first; They both said no.

I love the idea of making them optional, but that means build a spritesheet with a hat and without.  That's a lot of extra work, for a minimal effect.

It's a good point that the characters all kind of look the same anyway; Adding a hat may be true to the books, but it does detract that much more from each character's individuality.

In the end, the people have spoken; No hats.
