Yeah, the original sprite had a lot of highlights on the face and I kept them in at first, but took them out of the newer version(top) to look a bit more traditional.

I like the second because he looks more serious.

In my opinion, I'd love to see Raiden in this style. Even though he alread has CVS representation, I always thought his sprites looked too goofy.

It kind of looks like he has a huge bottom lip, but yeah, the second one's better.

I agree about Raiden. I think my new head helped, but cvs Raiden could never hold a candle to kof Raiden. The next character I'd most likely do though is Robert.

Spoiler: Got a rough scaling of KoFXIII > CvS (click to see content)

Scaling the KoF sprites down to 47% seems to be the magic number. The proportions seems to be good as far as limb length and head size go (<may need to go 1 or 2 pixels larger for some)

Spoiler: Really messy overlap (click to see content)

All of the larger and some of the mid sized men can be simply touched up and they'ed fit fine in my opinion. The thinner males and females however need to be thickened up a bit before truly fitting proper CvS proportions (and I don't mean simply stretching the sprite horizontally >:().

Anyway with this in mind I'm going to start converting my first animation with Maxima. Wish me luck.

Interesting. I always thought it looked off just halving the scale. Time to have another look!

Dude, I'd love to see Robert in his AOF, KOF 94, and KOF XIII counterpart.

crosseyed bearded raiden is stupid, kof13 raiden looks actually intimidating, so i'd love a conversion of that form in any shape or style

NICE although the arm's shadow showing up on the leg looks a bit weird in this style IMO.

True.

I wonder what the general rule would be about overlapping objects casting shadows. I don't think that I should skip adding a shadow 100% of the time, so for now I guess I'll just skip out on shading the legs.

I wish I knew but I believe overlapping object shadows are usually ignored in CvS...

I thought that the overlapping object shadows where completely ignored in this style cause I don´t remember one character that followed this rule. But whatever, that Robert looks really amazing :D

For me, honestly the first sprite takes me over an hour to do since I'm always second guessing myself and changing little details over and over, but after I have an established look/goal it should take only a fraction of that time to make more sprites for an animation or something.

If you're gonna make it look metallic I'd put in highlights as well

Doesn't have to be stark white of course, but that's all your palette allowed for.

(Nevermind that last part)
