Thanks for the comments @Jesuszilla, thanks, I know about the smile, but I just didn't wanna do the smile Hmmm... the pants, I thought if I put more shadows it would see overcharged
Hey guys, I'm working on a Zero spriteBut I can't get the shading right, also I think it looks okay but are there any areas you guys think I could fix? Thanks.
http://irwt.smeenet.org/Spriters, this site is your BnB. Bookmark it, remember it.First thing I could see is that it needs more antialiasing.Second, not enough contrast in the yellows of the hair. You did some NICE antialiasing there, but still, it's unnecessary. I replaced that color with the next darkest shade and still got the same effect.Knowing Zero, I can understand the colors for the jewel, but that order still looks strange. You have a good antialiasing effect going with the reds I think, so the contrast between shades 2 and 4, while minimal, seems good enough!Black shades on the legs and arms: too many colors. I'd keep it to just 3 since they are not part of major areas. Red is featured prominently, for exampleBracelet and hand colors: DEFINITELY need contrast. Make the darker shades darker. The hips need more shade.Go for a different set of yellows for the parts of the body. Hair is fine, but the gold trim needs work.... so maybe I correct my first statement: there IS antialiasing, just maybe too much of it where it's not needed, and not used where it could probably use it .Also remember that light source comes from directly at the top.
Can't really tell. But both share issues. What's with that horizontal line in the middle of the pants? That would be a pain to sprite in a set so there's really no need for it. The shirt could use more shade near the top-right and less highlights. The jacket also looks a bit misshapen. I kinda prefer how the old one looked.Way too much highlight.Skin looks perfect. The smile could probably use some antialias. Nose is too pointed and could probably be solved by having a darker pixel on the tip.
awesome sprite! i like it alot Spoiler, click to toggle visibiltyAya Brea from Parasite eve (thanks to efex for his kof rouge)
Markus, you're doing sprites more cool! Anyway, nice job, but see the hands, she doesn't have fingers!!!!
How about now? I tried to fix what you said, here's the updated version:Left is old, Right is new. I used the Zero sprite on that website as a reference.
I'm about to go to bed so if there are any errors, I'll catch them tomorrow, but until then, you did an EXCELLENT job! Much improvement. You are catching on fast.
Well now that I'm more awake, and this is gonna be quick:Something about the collar thing bothers me. Just looks kinda misshapen.I indexed only the newer sprite. 45 colors. There must be some inconsistency going on here... That sprite should only be around 28 colors (since your last sprite should have had 30 colors, going by the palette you made). You can avoid this by making the palette in the right corner like you did before and make sure to ONLY use those colors. Then you index it (Image > Mode > Indexed color).
How about now? :OWith this one I also changed the circle thing on his right foot and the placement of the yellow on his torso. I'm not sure if that looks better?
