MotorRoach said, February 19, 2013, 02:32:11 amI don't mean to offend, but his shoulders don't really look connected to his body. Try making it closer, I guess.none taken brotried fixing his shoulders up abit
So this was my first time working from a drawing, it was a character of my friends', I think I got the lighting somewhat right, but I figured I'd get feedback first.

Well, I used Shen Woo as a base but did try to shade it as I could. I always know the CVS light source rule is to use from above. And yeah, I was using Rugal as a ref for shading. Plus, I trace around a character and messing up with some colors into my own for shading. I either erase colors or use darkest colors and then make smartpal. The color of the black cap is finished I think, but the rest of the colors in clothing are supposed to be black. I think this is supposed to be a smartpal. The alignment doesn't look right to me because I didn't use the cross from Shen Woo's walk. I always use MSPaint to sprite. I have GIMP and Irfanview, but I never sprite in other photoshop because I never see CVS spriting tutorial in GIMP, only Adobe Photoshop. I always sprite in MSPaint. I would like to see how Felo Llop shades in MSPaint in CVS, starting from scratch, but I do have his CVS tutorial though. I always like to learn how to shade in MSPaint. Shading in other photoshop programs is not what I'm used to 'cause I don't have Adobe Photoshop.
C.v.s The Abstract said, February 22, 2013, 04:12:46 pmNot a fan of the stance, but the sprite looks great.
C.v.s The Abstract said, February 22, 2013, 04:12:46 pmThat's a good looking sprite, although something on it's shading just doesn't screams for CvS. I think you've added too much brightening for the legs, so I would recommend taking one color from there out. In case you want to keep his legs bright, I recommend looking at the CvS Vice sprites for good reference on those types of pants. Something else that seems off is about his shoulders. His left (our right) shoulder looks much smaller than his right (our left) shoulder, not to mention there's a weird bulk on the back of his right shoulder. On the pose of the legs, it would look more alright in a more 3D type of game, though that doesn't applies well to CvS style, so I recommend you make his left feet (our right) to stand a bit more more down. One last thing that doesn't matches well CvS style is the size of the sprite. Let's compare him to Ryu.He seems bigger than he should be in this sprite style. If he stood up, he would possibly match Rugal or Raiden's height.
He matches the rest of C.v.s. The Abstract's sprites: close to CvS style in terms of shading, but entirely too big proportionally to work with proper CvS characters. The new one is closer, but still looks a bit on the large side to me. The head, forearms, and knees/shins look unfinished, somehow. Can't quite put my finger on it.
Updated Filia.Added one shade of red for her eye instead of threeAdded 3 brown colors for the shoesBlack is only 3 colors nowSamson's eye is now yellowGave her a better smile
heihashi mishimai'm quite happy with this . Been spriting for a long time but never figure to finish something worth publishing.here a palette swap of it: heihashi cosplaying ryu and kenplease let me know what you think about it!
That's a pretty nice Heihachi sprite. The only thing that feels off is his hair, which seems to stand out from the rest of the sprite. I would make the hair colors have stronger contrast somehow.
Is the anatomy right? Are the pants shaded rightly, are the colours cvs?Havent sprited in a long timeAlso, can i find a How to shade muscles and cloth folds tutorial anywhere or?My older ones didnt even have that :\

I'm not one who can accurately judge anatomy or proportions, but nothing negative stands out to me in those respects. IMO if you dedicate you time on getting the details down (muscles, clothing, a good face) then it should turn out good.Maybe look at DanOwnsAll's Vega to for reference on these things.
