I'm not known for perfect edits. however I think they look pretty damn good if you ask me. This time I tried to do Jax since I've been using him in MK9 alot lately. Still having trouble with metallic surfaces but getting better. still gotta get better at the hands too. anyway I might just pick this guy up as a wip. also I never liked the original haircut so that's why I made him bald instead of having John Parrish's haircut. And yes I just had to add in a white Jax pallete since it creates more pallete possibilities.

These looks incredible. A WIP would be awesome. Regardless, great job, dude!
These palettes better make me cum rainbows when I see them.

Yes, they look rather awesome, although maybe you should improve the chest area. Looks like he has a little too much "muscle" in there. Maybe just make the lightest shade bigger, (or reduce the size of the shadow a bit??)

Wanted to get some feedback on my attempt at CVS style for that CFAS Viewtiful Joe.

I realized that Jax's chest looked a bit off. I have no solid references to go by right now. I'm looking at SeanAltly's CM Punk right now. I think Joe is shirtless too...I'll take a look

I think he'd look better with a goatee. If he's going to be bald, the goatee would help him look less plain, and would also steer him towards looking like the actor who played him in Mortal Kombat: Annihilation.

Son, the last thing you'll realize you need is what you've already got.

actually yer right :) kinda does look like the actor..however I have no idea how to get the goatee to look right. I was goin for a bald look similar to the movie and MK9 game combined. John Parrish was the guy who did the acting for the original MK2, MK3 sprites. If I made him into a full wip I'd have to add the awesome punch from MK9 and more frames to the neutral jump. also guys look at his mouth I think I did it wrong. lemme know what's wrong.

It looks like he's wearing a shirt. A better base would be Joe, I guess.

updating this a bit more, did the scarf and face. If I had the skill, time and patience, I would love to have converted all of these to a more CVS-ish look.

I'm trying to learn how to shade... it's a pain in the butt... I was wondering if I could get some crits... Those of you that have seen my work know already that I barely ever color anything. Coloring just this one sprite took about 2 hours trying to decide where to put each color and obsessing over everything... I'm exhausted :P

Color bases are Ryu's skin tone and Dictator's everything else (clothes and armor). Tried making this guy's armor a bit shinier, since Dictator's armor is kinda flatly shaded.

That looks fantastic! But can you imagine if he stands up straight? He's probably taller than Sagat!

You should shrink him IMO because he's too tall.

Oh, yeah... I forgot to clarify... height-wise, he's SF3... at least that's what I used when I started drawing all of his sprites. Someone later suggested CVS shading and I guess I totally forgot the proportions were off. This is mostly practice anyway... the musculature is never going to be close to SF3 either, anyway. Keep in mind that this is my previous attempt before I decided to do it seriously (I'm not using IMG tags because it's not CVS in any way):

Glad you like it. Any criticism? I feel like I winged a lot of it... I sort of guess I understand the logic behind this shading style? I just feel maybe I overdid it or under-did it.

Needs a bit work on the pants but overall its a pretty decent sprite. Good job.

I think I'm pretty much done with this. Don't have any more nagging problems with it from my end, at least.

HHHHMMM I hate to say it, but his abs look kinda jiggly, but other then that it looks very good and finished to me :)! Abs are probably better off a bit more static.
