Here's an original character I did: I tried...I think I wanna start my own style based off of CvS style though
@Markpachi:Markpachi this one is for you. Hope you like it!also... feedback plz! Edit: Fixed few dots here and there:P
Sky79 said, January 31, 2014, 08:13:28 pmYou tried and did it, way to go.Thanx! This my first time spriting in CvS, let alone spriting one of my original characters from a pixel drawing and not directly on a character base. I think I want to experiment with SF3 colors and CvS body portions....idk exactly how to pull it off yet. I guess I just add more colors? idk
sabockee said, January 29, 2014, 07:50:42 pmLooks good for the most part I think. The only thing that stands out to me is that the bright specular highlights are a bit blobby and shapeless. It looks OK on his back and shoulder because they are kind of large, round-ish areas, but for his lower arms and thighs I think the highlights could be more elongated to follow the actual shapes of his arms and legs better. In addition I think the highlights on his feet should probably be extended all the way to the tip of the toes, the lighting on them doesn't quite make sense right now.Balthazar said, January 29, 2014, 09:22:47 pmI like it. Contrast looks weird but I'm sure that's only because of the forum's bright background colour, I assume it would look fine on a more neutral backdrop. I don't think the highlights in his hair are really working though. You've got some kind of banding going on with the dark lines in his hair, and it's hard to tell what those highlights are supposed to be defining. I'd probably lose (at least some of) the outlines within the shape of the hair, and use the highlights in a more thoughtful way to define the feathered look. You've also got something that looks like stray pixels connecting his hair to his shoulder, and maybe his hair to his eyebrows? It's a little confusing. Lastly you've got a pretty nasty straight vertical line outlining his wrist and hand, rounding that out in some way might be a good idea. Nitpicks aside he looks great.Itsuchi KS said, January 31, 2014, 03:35:20 pmUnrelated to "CvS style" matters, but a general word of advice: if you are using Photoshop, don't use "multiply" for your shadow layer. It will wash out your shadow tones and make them look more bland (doubly so if it's a black/grey colour). What you should be doing is set your shadow colour to something like a blue or purple (or whatever colour you find works best), and set the blending mode to Linear Burn, Soft Light, Hard Light, etc. It'll give you a much richer and interesting colour palette. Watch the colours of those outlines too, you've got an odd blend of grey and brown pixels outlining the skin parts. Either coloured or black outlines would be fine, but you should be consistent.sabockee said, January 31, 2014, 09:17:09 pmLooks good. His right (viewer's left) knee looks real funky (even the bottom of the kneecap is lit, but there's a darker shade between kneecap and thigh muscles?), and his hands perhaps a bit wobbly, but other than that it's great. One thing that seems pretty consistent in your Tekken sprites though is that the viewing angle is significantly higher than in, say, CVS sprites. Most obviously the vertical distance between the feet on the ground is much greater than in your typical CVS or SF character. Not a problem in and of itself of course, but something to be aware of if you're trying to match the style of the CVS games.

I'm glad that you like it Markpachi It needs few fixes though. I'll update him soon.Jiggeh, that's the feedback i was waiting for. Thanks a lot! I'm already aware of issues with Ganryu sprite that you mentioned. I'll try to fix them.
Sagat MBI know that I usually suck at keeping a consistent light source, but any and all critiques are welcome.
Aya Brea from Parasite Eve (thanks to eFeX for the base of the mini-portrait)CvS Whip (convertion based on Arthas' KoF XIII-styled Whip, so thanks to him)
Ok, what about a revamp? The last one wasnt finished and I messed up when I did my grayscale. I fixed this before I saw the critic but this one is alot better....I think. Alot less colors to. I ended up completely respriting it:
Seeing all of these is making me want to get back into spriting... I kinda have to since one of my ideas revolves around it.Itsuchi KS said, February 02, 2014, 05:01:58 pmBased on the shading I assume it's unfinished; looks good so far... The front forearm & hand looks small compared to the back one.
