Main differences between SFA and CvS is scale and palettes.And about itself images: well, I prefer large images, because they are at least something can be seen. If you need a little PNG sprites here- here they are.

shading is the main difference, cvs shading is very efficient, my guess is that capcom had lost most of the great spriters from the cps2 era and had to optimize the few ones they had left.
