What I like about you Alex is that not only you give good criticism, you also know how to fix things properly. I like spriters like you and others who can apply what they know to their work. It makes that person a true dependable critic, and you're definitely one of those people.Decided to edit Churchoryu's Nagase sprite. I've been on and off with this for awhile now. I first resized the sprite in photoshop. Afterwards, I got a ref image that showed that this character's design had a LOT of details, and a good amount was missing in Churcho's sprite. I actually understand why, cause boy, dem details were a pain when I shrunk down the lineart that I traced over. I still need to get a good grasp on CvS faces as well as shading, since I think I messed up on some shading and I'm not really contempt with the face. I plan on animating it too.

It's a really accurate description of Alex's critique style. His advice (along with feedback from other users like MotorRoach, JZ and Felo) is really what helped me get slightly better. One of these days... I'll be like that SageHarpuiaJDJ said, November 23, 2014, 08:31:18 pmActually you got the Nagase look down. I think she would really look like that if Capcom wanted to put her in a CvS game. But, do you think a midtone could be applied to Nagase's left (artist) leg? Dunno, I fell like the leg shouldn't be that dark. Maybe a midtone since it's far away from the light source, but my knowledge of anatomy isn't all that though
I think that it could, but I'm not sure. Since the Nagase sprite was edited from Malin I can look at her base and see.

It is really nice to being able to do cvs sprites with the official color count but I dont the see the problem with going over the limit so the sprite can look the best it could.
The only problem I have with your Nagase is how tiny her head looks now. I would make her hair a little bigger.
There is a CvS Violent Ken, Shao! LOL Aside from what Markpachi said, maybe you could add a few midtones to the left (artist) leg like you did the right. Also, left and right (artist) arms need more toning, they don't look muscular at all.
Shao_kun said, November 26, 2014, 03:23:33 pmIt deserves a CVS versionCredits to Diepod, he made the original SF3 Sprite He looks kinda decent to me but you should saved him in gif or pcx instead of png format
I honestly don't see why using either of those would make a difference, unless if you wanted to directly add the image to a SFF file, which I doubt would be done at all.
Eh, it still doesn't look like CvS, and looks more like Balthazar's style. I honestly suggest either just faceswapping one of Violent Ken's heads, or using it as a reference, but if accuracy isn't what you're going for, not head swapping it is fine. It's just that the face looks too cartoon-ish for it to be CvS, in my opinion.
demongorne said, November 26, 2014, 04:13:12 pmbut you should saved him in gif or pcx instead of png formatWhy? And why in pcx of all formats?
Markie has a point. But it looks good. Oh, and why aren't there any midtones on the left (artist) leg???
As far a i know, FF3 reconizes .PNG and .PCXAlso, the PNG format allows you to paint with the transparent color(i feel more comfortable with it)Black Hatter said, November 27, 2014, 12:20:53 amOh, and why aren't there any midtones on the left (artist) leg??? Wait a second
Because .pcx doesn't show up in web browsers? Also, yeah, who outside of Total Annihilation modders use .pcx files any more?
