(Thread obsolete) Mega Man X - Scrap Metal Arena

This topic is for my latest fullgame wip. Before anyone asks, I have not forgotten about my previous work in progress..

http://mugenguild.com/forumx/index.php?topic=121877.msg1217425#msg1217425

I've simply taken a bit of a break from it. It isn't canceled by any means. I'm just more interested in this wip for the time being. Anywho,

-Mega Man X Battle-

-CHARACTERS SO FAR-

X-Hunters
-Serges (X2)
-Agile (X2)
Enemies
-Armor Soldier (X1)
-Bee Blader (X1)
Maverick Bosses
-Armored Armadillo (X1)
-Sting Chameleon (X1)
-Spark Mandrill (X1)
-Storm Eagle (X1)
-Morph Moth (X2)
-Bubble Crab (X2)
-Gravity Beetle (X3)
-Tunnel Rhino (X3)
Sigma Stage Bosses
-Bospider CPU ONLY (X1)
-Dr.Doppler (X3)
-Berkana (Xtreme2)
-Sigma (X3)

-STAGES-

I plan on having the small single image boss stages as well as the wide multi-layered stages such as the Concrete Man and Solar Man MMX-style stages I've shown and released in the past.

-RANDOM NOTES-

-Each character uses 3 buttons. X,y, and z. Most characters shall have crouching and jumping attacks as well as regular standing ones.

-I'm going for accuracy, and then some. In other words I'll add some extra neat stuff every now and then but don't expect anything short of some new projectiles and new uses for old sprites, with the occasional edited sprites. So yeah, you're not going to see any of the mavericks walking unless they already have the sprites necessary to do so.

-My goal for the roster is to have X, Zero, Sigma, the maverick bosses, and even standard enemies. I want to even have enemies that have like..two attacks be playable. Just a fun compilation of any random characters from the game.

-As you may guess from the previous bullet point, this game WILL be unbalanced. Not really in an Orochi-Shin-God-Megafuck Versus Homer Simpson type of way, I just mean that if you're playing as a Metool against a boss then you might not have a good chance of winning.

-Custom lifebars, of course. No small portraits though. I decided to simply always have P1 have X's symbol, and P2 to have the Maverick skull. Yes it is just laziness.

-PALETTE TEMPLATES-

I'll change what templates are available from time to time.

-REGARDING CONTRIBUTIONS-

If anyone wishes to get involved in this project then I would gladly accept any contributions including;

-Music remixes using Megaman X SNES instruments. (Example : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPNekDG0H50)

-Palettes, of course.

-Stages from the X series. Maybe Wily Wars.

-If you wish to make/contribute a character, we can discuss that in this thread.

I am always glad to make content on my own. In fact I spend more time editing content for my own personal Mugens then I do playing them, but if anyone wants to help out  and get involved then that is cool too.

His name is Armor Soldier, if you were curious :P

Thanks. I had actually been wondering how I could find a list of all the official enemy names.
There is a guy making a Megaman X too, maybe you can co-work on this

Its on portuguese, but I think he speaks english too http://forum.paodemugen.com.br/index.php?showtopic=6054

Neat palettes guys! That pink-faced one is quite interesting. Going for any particular appearance with that?

Also, Storm Eagle has been recently completed. I'll post a template and video of him soon. Template added to first post. Here is the video,

Awesome project you have here. I really like the filtered sprites for the project. ;P I made some MMX styled Axl sprites a month or two ago, you can use them if you want and edit them however you want. I pretty much went off from the one Axl fake screenshot for Megaman X9. :P (Some required poses may be missing.)

Oh awesome! Thanks a bunch.  :D

And..filtered sprites? They all maintain the same size as they originally did, same goes for the game ratio itself. Some screenshots are simply 2x in size though.

Anywho though, thanks for the Axl sprites. Any custom sprite-sheets in the X-style could definitely be used for this project.

Oh, I guess it's just the videos, then. Either way, no problem. I have a lot of faith with this project. :sugoi:

Ah thanks but for this game I'm only using sprites from the SNES games.

In the future I may attempt to make a 16-bit version of that stage..

It’s looking great! Is sigma going to be the final boss? and if so are you going to have a final form of sigma?

That would be ideal, but I'm not sure yet. I'm definitely going to have Sigma's primary forms from each game though. They're pretty ideal for a fighting game anyways!

If each Sigma is going to be its own character, then you could have each final form as a super. As for a final sigma form? If you can do a 16-bit form of Sigma's final form from Xtreme 2, that could work (I mean, you did put Berkana, so Sigma shouldnt be a problem)

You limit yourself so badly when you try to avoid variables. When you get over your fear of the "complexity" of variables, you will find yourself in a better place: A beautiful world where coding is actually fun.
