Not a big deal. Kinda frowned upon unless you are really adding something useful to the topic. If it's your own topic and you are updating it it's also not a problem. That makes the update relevant and/or useful.
Yeah, as JNP said.To keep it simple. It is ok to revive a topic you are adding something to it.Like if you re-host one of your old characters that was offline. If is not ok to revive a year old topic just to ask if the project is still alive, to say "it looks nice", etc, etc.
Just use the golden rule, would you be pissed off if the author of a wip topic updated ti with more info about the char ? would you be updated if someone revived a one year old topic saying "it looks great"; would you be pissed someone revived a one year old topic saying "the author changed it's webpage url, here is the new one".
ARCoolguy said, March 09, 2009, 04:50:29 pmis resurrecting topics allowedSpoiler, click to toggle visibiltyplz say yesWhat were you planning to resurrect? It's all about location and quality in my book.If it's your topic, whatever. If you really bring something new to the table, or believe that it will reignite interest in the topic, it's fine.As a general rule, I stay away from WIP's and release topic necros, unless of course it's your topic, or you have something really important to say. In fact, just stay away from dead WIP topics.I can't see that necros actually hurt anyone, it just annoys people, as do many other harmless gimmicks that are frowned upon in forums.
i was having this same question, except slightly different.figured asking here was better then making another thread.i've used several resources here already and normally i'd leave a sort of 'thanks for allowing public usage of this' or 'thanks for making' sort of post, which im sure authors enjoy, but are you allowed to do that in threads over 30 days old??if not, i might have been better off just staying guest... hahaha
It's better not to revive a topic over 30 days old just to say thanks. You can always PM the guy that made it and thank them though. Then you wouldn't have made an account in vain And it guarantees the author will see your thank you. He may not check an old thread.
