I'm not saying these rips are completely useless. I'm sure there can still be some value from someone needing a quick base or something. But for the most part sprite sheets like this are kind of outdated. Unless there is no way to extract sprites properly with artmoney a sprite sheet over complicates the creation process. Not only that but you are also ripping sprites while they have pal fx on them.Me and Kong ripped all the sprites using artmoney. Though neither of us did an optimal job. If you could learn to use artmoney and rip them all individually maintaining their axis it would be of great assistance to many authors!I can assist you if you wish. The things I did incorrectly in my rips are some palettes are incorrect some sprites have effects over them they should not havemany effects like projectiles and other stuff are missing from our ripsI am not saying this to dissuade you or discourage you. And if you'd rather just stick to sprite sheets that's fine as well.Just figured I'd point this out and offer to assist if you needed it.
i ripped them from WinKawaks (which is an arcade emulator) using the built-in tile viewer. i'm doing it my way. but yeah if i need assistance i'll tell ya.
you should know however that capturing several times in several colours isnt useful, by palletizing the sheets you can change the colours easily. You dont need a new rip for every colour, you just need a new pal file for each colour.
All of the colors in these sprites (except the ES palettes and MAYBE the portraits since they have a few unique colors) are capable of fitting into a 256-color palette, too. Also, like JNP said, sprite sheets are kinda useless here because you lose alignment data.
i used basically used the select by color tool in GIMP to change the colors. i did rip each sprite with the default palette, but not each sprite with the alternate palettes. saves me time. and to have multiple sheets it's easier for whoever wants that sprite sheet so they don't have to change the palette themselves.it's just for fun. if it works for me, it's fine.and Jesuszilla, i have no clue what you are talking about. a little explanation, please?
http://www.justnopoint.com/forum/index.php?topic=52.0Look at these packs. Do you see how every sprite's aligned? That's because they were ripped with the same axis. These rips are infinitely more useful than a sprite sheet for someone looking to assemble a .sff 'cause he wouldn't have to waste time cropping and aligning sprites.
i noticed that when i made some animations. how do you realign them?never mind that. my friend makes sprite sheets from NES games. and i'm doing it from arcade games. i like sprite sheets better.EDIT: do you know what? i'll do it that way. since all of you guys are telling me that.
http://www.justnopoint.com/Tables/Here are several artmoney tables for DS that can aid you. If you have anyquestions on using artmoney feel free to ask.
