(Mugen 1.0)

I tried setting Mugen to load sprite 0,0 as the portrait for the victory screen.

Instead it shows sprite 9000,1. (Yes, the character has a 0,0 sprite.)

Tried it again with 0,1... still the same result.

This time tried using 9000,0... And it worked.

So it seems victory portraits are restricted to the 9000 group sprites?  :???:
Is this true or am I doing something wrong?
And if this is true, is there some way I can bypass this?

The victory portrait is assigned to 9000,2. Not sure how big it can be or not.

If there is no 9000,2, 9000,1 is used. Debug should tell you this.

""Standard"" 9000,2 dimensions are the same as 9000,1. I suggest getting creative with sizes if your screenpack can ""handle it"".

Yes, I realize that 9000, 2 is the default sprite, and it switches to 9000, 1 if there is no 9000, 2.

Quote
[Victory Screen]
enabled = 1
time = 9999;5000;1000;420;                ;Time to show screen
fadein.time = 30
fadeout.time = 15
p1.offset = 112,113
p1.spr = 9000,2

But I assume that this line implies that I can change which sprite mugen will use for the victory portrait.

I was able to successfully change it to sprite 9000, 0....

But attempts to change it to other sprites not in the 9000 group (such as 0,0 or 0,1...) will just have mugen display 9000, 1 instead.
Is this some kind of limitation?
And if so, is there anyway to bypass this limitation? (Besides give every single character a new 9000, 2 sprite or something.)

My apologies if my previous post wasn't very clear.

Now it's a limitation yaa. Sorta like how 9000,0 being shared palette is mandatory and not optional.

If I'm not wrong there are plans for both.
