generally speaking a good accurate character on every decent style is good to have; plus a few original ones that show what can be accomplished with mugen.

Isn't that technically not what the thread asks? (At least to me, a character that "everyone should download" usually means that the character themselves bring something new to the table. Example: New sprites, new fun system, complex/unique coding, etc.)

i suppose so! i just like seeing people name chars, and like i stated before, people always have just pointed towards authors without really any concrete recs to base off of. if you pointed to warusakis stuff, obv some of it is coded better than others as he developed the system and his ability. how would a casual fan know any of that off the bat? i think specific character recs are a fun way of getting to know peoples taste and they point you in a way more specific direction

I like this kind of threads, seriously. I would like to add some of my chars in my list since I enjoyed to play with various of them until today, but I guess that's not the issue of this thread anyway :P here's my list:

A bunch of 'bad' characters have their own charm, like how RyouWin's Cable has HitDefs as bad as the 'spriterips'.
