I forget to discuss this with everyone, but I noticed the most actually artworks from Capcom games, I realized that all current arts Capcom, Bengus no more make arts for Capcom. No one more talk about him or seen his current arts.

The question is: Where is he now?


For any people does not know who are Bengus, he are one of most influent artists in Capcom existence. And here some examples:

I have no idea;

Bengus has been one of my favorite artists since I've laid eyes on CAPCOM WORKS.
NO MORE CPS2;

I only use it for project-specific purposes.

IMO Bengus was at his peak when he made the character illustrations for the SF EX games

IIRC he was pretty much exploited to his limits creating all kind of intro/outro/portrait/cutscene for SFA3, you could see how over time he started to lose the details for his art.

MVC2 was his laziest IMO. It just feels rushed.

I miss Bengus. He is one of the many aspects of the CPS2 era that made it awesome.
CPS2 Era was to Capcom was Attitude Era was to WWF.

It wouldn't be so bad if Shinkiro could do artwork for all the games as well. From what we saw in TvC and MVC3 he can definitely do the cartoony style quite well.

Love his Power Stone work. From what I have read, he's a freelance artist now.

I recommend checking out SF20: The Art of Street Fighter. It has a ton of art by Akiman, Shinkiro, Bengus, and other famed Capcom artist.

He went freelance, like many of the other old Capcom artists did. Personally I like his early 90s style the best, the one seen in Super Street Fighter 2 and Darkstalkers 1.

Shinkiro is a very "all around" kind of guy, he can do anything, it just so happens that what they requested the most out of him was his photorealistic style.

Back to Bengus, one thing I'll say - When he did the art for the XMEN / Marvel games, his style fit really well the American Comic Book art, but the designs never felt out of place when it comes to anime. In my opinion, if I had to pick the best ComicsXAnime Hybrid style, I like Bengus' take on it, rather than what Joe Madureira did.

i mostly remember gouki sketch by bengus and goutetsu, wasnt the guy working on udon sf comics?

hmm honestly i think it's edit of original bengus gouki. i have barely noticed it, before ive linked the picture. used this one, mainly because of goutetsu from Gouki outro in it. first time seeing gouki with hair down too, but it would be cool to have this as alternative costume in sfiv.

p.s first drawings of gouki wasnt that beefy as they did to him later..

Such a shame Shinkiro kinda replaced Bengus in the Capcom Promotional Art department.

So that´s the name of capcom artist responsible for some of the marvel series artwork?? That´s great to know. I really like the X-Men vs Street Fighter art, even with the eye glaring colors the drawing itself are really impressive.

Just came here to say than Bengus' art is damn awesome.

Good to know he's still around, I didn't really keep up with his whereabouts.
