What are your favorite Mugen Characters and why??

With lots of questions revolving around what you would like to see or want in Mugen, I figured I'd go a different route.

What makes Mugen great is freedom of choice. There is never a right or wrong way to sort anything; your roster reflects your personal tastes. Therefore, all of us have those favorite creations that headline our collections. Which ones are your favorites??

For me, I have a few:

Reu's Evil Ryu and Ken. In the land of millions of Shotoboy edits, Reu went the extra mile to make his edits shine, evidenced by plenty of intricately edited animations and added attacks, not to mention sweet custom introductions. These two were some of my very first downloads, and they have been a permanent fixture ever since.

Sean Altly's Rorschach and Solid Snake. I still use his 6 button 1.0 variants to this day. What makes Rorschach and Snake top picks are their personalities that are well replicated in a 2D plane. All of Rorschach's moves pay homage to his graphic novel/silver screen appearances, and Snake is simply badass. Sean did a great job, that's for sure.

Lastly, P.o.t.S. Shin Akuma is, in my opinion, one of the absolute best characters ever in Mugen. All of Akuma's best elements from all of his incarnations are combined into one robust and amazingly well coded character. And he plays as smooth as silk with well implemented effects.

I could go on and on and on about more awesomeness from plenty of other talents (JMorphman, Raja, Cybaster, Cyanide, NoZ, Big Boss, MaxBeta... you guys require a shout out!!) but this thread is about your top picks. What are your thoughts??

Goku Z2 by C&B, he is most creative character I have ever seen for Mugen, for me it beats even DragonClaw.

Ken by Human, lol it means me

, its first character for Mugen that I am proud of, when I was making him my skill from shitty crap code increased a lot and I had a lot of fun making him.

Sol & Ky by Muteki, this guy really put heart to those creations, I salute you.

The count is much longer, but the rest are just "Its cool" comments.

because my favorite characters of all time are Street Fighter's shotos and the above creations are the best one in Mugen plus they have been in my Mugen game for a long time without replacing

and also a few to mention:

Cycloid Omega and Sigma by Ahuron: I like characters that have other character's moves which makes it unique
Gill by GM: Needless to explain, he is the best fighting boss ever when compare to other fighting game boss
Sagat by H' and Master Gouken: He is my next favorite Street Fighter characters beside the shotos and I like his Capcom vs SNK Series the best, both creators make an excellent job on him
Geese by Don Drago (all in one) and Koopakoot: Geese is my favorite kof character especially he is in Kof/SvC Series
Iori by Ihoo1836 and Ahuron: Iori is my favorite kof character and the "most enjoyable" version is Ihoo1836 and Ahuron's as they both are overpowered but fun to play as

I'm also under the impression that people keep neglecting data from the game, do you guys know how PotS made his original characters? He actually studied every single game he referenced, down to the core. Doing this properly requires understanding how the original system was made, not just winging it.

You people are forgetting the "AND WHY" part of the thread, but alas

GM's Mobile Suit Gundam characters - They all feel solid, have great nods to the show, and are overall made with detail, care, and perfection.
Rash by Buckus - He's not even complete yet and he feels fantastic to me. Has nods to the beautiful battletoads arcade game as well as the older ones predating it.

Proper order of things is often a mystery to me

Shin Gouki by P.o.t.S. Simple to play, captures playing as Akuma/Gouki perfectly, and of course, it's fun to play as him.

The Batman by Cybaster Though I'm no master at playing as him, I love trying to anyways. The design of using sprites of a Flash game and editing them as needed to create a well functioning Mugen character actually inspired me to give it a try on a different Flash game. Not that that's going anywhere, I have no clue what I'm doing, but I still like the idea for it.

Goku Z2 by Balthazar & Cybaster I love Dragonball Z. Their work on this Goku does justice to the series that before its release was hard to find. While CHOUJIN's and other's work at the DBZ Dream turned out some good characters, the sprites were rather lacking, and the way they played didn't always appeal to those looking for fair characters. Goku Z2, however, captures the image of Goku perfectly, while also providing a fair character.

DGBlossom by DoomGuy II Though the Mortal Kombat/Doom mixing with Powerpuffs doesn't appeal to most, the design to capture memorable parts of the Powerpuff show while designing the Girls to fight more brutal like their Whoopass varient comes together nicely in the end. Though her fighting does tend to end up rather cheap, I have a bit of a soft spot to using her.

God Gundam by gen I could just say that there is now a character that allows you to destroy your opponent (Who's obtained dark powers with the help of Kyoji) using the Shining Finger, and that's all you need to know, but the character is rather fun to play as a whole, and doesn't come across too cheap. (Though spamming the machine gun needs to be fixed) Only thing I could want from it is some A.I. to fight against it.

OK, do you want the "why" along my favourite chars, huh?? OK, here you go:

-Nao&M.'s KOF edits
I love them since the first time I played with them. My favourite so far is Nao, and seconding the pair of Another K' and Hiel, the best K'-Kula clones ever, IMO. Also, his K' is the only one I use in MUGEN
-POTS' Ryu
The base for all his future chars and the only Ryu you should get in your roster. And should be the base for all his future chars, included Shin Akuma. A must in my roster since always
-Mouser's Shingo Yabuki
The best one for MUGEN and with 2 modes in 1 (button=KOF2001, start+button=KOF97-98), my favourite for far
-Aiduzzi's chars
Awesome spriting, awesome gameplay. Ubu, Ella, Kuando and Giano, masterpieces for MUGEN, nothing less
-Neogouki's Rock Howard
The most accurate and the best Rock Howard I played on MUGEN. In general I love his creations, his other chars (especially his Orochi crew who can transform during the battle) and all his stages
-Yuto's Basara Kubikiri
Based in the best SS incarnation ever: SS4. I played with all the other Basara on the net (Montana included) and still prefer Yuto's
-Capuchino's Haohmaru
The best one for MUGEN. Period. Also like his Genjuro and Shizumaru, I'm very honored to make use his Haohmaru as base for my Gen-an and for let me host his chars in my website
-Lord Sinistro's Hwa Jai and Michael Max
The first FF1 chars I could play way years before Rin & Bat creations. Also I love all his classic chars, he was a strong inspiration to get back classics to MUGEN
-Inverse's chars
In general I like all his chars, like Sengoku 3's Kurenai, Gekido's Tetsuo, Waku Waku 7's Rauru & Slash, and his Breakers chars. Also his tutorials were part of my learning about how to make chars
-O Ilusionista's Saizo Hattori
One of the first Power Instinct chars I played for MUGEN. Same as Lord Sinistro, his classic chars inspired me to make mines
-Sander71113 & [E]'s Terry Bogard
The Best Terry you can get for MUGEN and both are some of the most awesomes creators I meet. Also, inspired me to make my EX (KOF-like) chars
-Luvly Angel's Yashiro Nanakase
Based in KOF98, he's the best Yashiro you can get for MUGEN. Also, her creations are great (her Gen is the only one you need) and my dream is to revive them for the new generations. She also was so cute and nice, I was a n00b when I met her, I miss her

-3ha's chars
MUGEN it's not just to make accurate versions, and this guys remember us that with his chars, part accurate, part original. He's one of my inspirations to make original stuff like Eric, Blizzard or the XXX crew
-SeanAlty's chars
I enjoyed his SHADES chars and I loved the way to create his original stuff. Also this last time his conversions of chars from various franchises (Rorschach, Solid Snake, Sub-Zero and Jin Kazama (with CVSNB) as others) are pieces of MUGEN art. I would be honored to be part of one of his projects someday (since voicing some of his chars to spriting/coding some of them)
-Rikard's KOF edits
Same as Nao&M's edits, it's a pleasure play with them, also I love his Casshern and his Hikaru, always I wanted to edit KOF chars like him but my attemps aren't as good as him u_u
-Balt & Cyb's GokuZ2
The best DB character for MUGEN ever made. It's always a pleasure to play with him, Balthazar spriting is superb and Cybaster coding is more than great. I've to make a latino voice patch for him someday (Mario Castañeda is the shit)
-DrKelexo's Colonel McPain
The more wicked KFM edit I found, ever more broken than Evil KFM, it's so fun to play, even when it's incomplete

-The_None's Dee Bee Kaw
My favourite char of him, seconding by his old version of Alex (the first one for MUGEN, even when it was a kind of joke in its time)

I've some more, but I don't remember them by now, maybe later

Dinosaurs, Mature women, cat/dog girls, you name them

to bed that there isn't many decent dinosaur characters in mugen

when it comes to authors : P.O.T.s always comes to my mind as the best of the best

Haven't played Red Earth, kinda forgot about that guy. So that's four dinos, including Diablo, Talon & Vertigo. I suppose you can add the Godzilla characters to the bunch, though they're more monsters than dinosaurs....

Shion - probably my favorite character ever that made me appreciate what seemed to be the weakest design in battle monsters, but this made me realize he's a cool samurai dude who's fast as HELL and is fun to rushdown just about anyone with. and believe me, nothing much was more satisfying than doing a combo and ending the round with that super after dee bee kaw tried to kill me with his usual antics.
Albiole - my favorite character from battle monsters, and he's more or less faithful here.
Angela - first good Angela Belti ever
Earthworm Jim - first good earthworm jim, and stretching that, first good clayfighter character ever
Psykyopath - first good kof13 + akatsuki blitzkampf + dead rising hybrid??? no but he's amusing plus pretty well made, balance-wise
Trouble Man - first good oh my god i can't look at iori the same way anymore help
Deathmask - another battle monsters character i didn't really appreciate at first in his original game, but this one makes him 'smoother' and he's also pretty fun to experiment with, combo-wise. especially trying to chain grapples together
Mass thangs:
Hiryu - favorite character from survival arts and although he's a bit too overpowered compared to most, he's got everything from his source game including the weapon pickups, and is a total blast to use in survival
Karla - tattoo assassins represent. fun as hell arranged mode, hilarious auto fatalities, the whole shibang.
Jamm - one of my favorite characters from golden axe the duel, not much else to say
Kai - cool old-school beat em up ninja cyborg dude from a beat-em-up i really need to play all the way through one day
Ja-Koh - cool dude from rabbit, takes a bit of thinking to do good with him
Wu-Ling - in a rare case where a little girl fighting game character is actually cool. she's also pretty fun yet simple to use
Roche - awesome guy from daraku tenshi, plays just like the original, not much else to say
Stevareno - got me introduced to alien challenge, has all his original stuff, BUFFARO

The_None thangs
Kaf Ka - my favorite weird little magician midget from battle monsters is made faithfully here with some silly custom supers
Shadow Kouma - cool/hilarious concept using a cool dude from melty blood, yet isn't totally overwhelming somehow

Pneophen thangs
Rayden - mk1 mk trilogy wassup! pretty much how he is in the original with some neat little extras
Sub-Zero - an interesting 'what if' scenario if mk1 sub-zero was in mkt that's done really well

Skate Hunter by Dcat - incredibly fun to use, has all of his streets of rage stuff combined into a really well-done package

Rubber Soul and Khan by Baddarkness - two awesome guys from jojo's bizarre adventure done perfectly

probably everything by Borghi - out of all the 'mugen legends' and what have you, THIS guy deserves it. very imaginative and original characters all done from scratch with neat movesets. hashi is my current favorite

NGI thangs
Sagojo - gokuu densetsu character done mostly right, some issues here and there but that original super more than makes up for it

Kenbo - HAAAAAAAAAAAAADOBIN (thunk)

Mukuro by Ahuron - his EX mode is pure unbridled striker insanity that is always GREAT entertainment to see or use. BOTTLE CUT during giant mike tyson trying to punch people while earthworm jim is jumping around shooting things is what i use mugen for. also how the hell did i forget BRIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN that guy is amazing

Murakumo by Mikita - awesome guy from akatsuki blitzkampf with a neat ex mode

Kanae by aokmaniac13 - awesome chick from akatsuki blitzkampf done how she should be

Mr Shihan Ky by run - jin fu-ha with like 303546 hilarious special moves, incredibly fun to use or watch

Senator by Thomas Hsieh - sure is a challenge to fight, but done very well regardless

Mr. Jones by Jango - blends in his original rotd stuff with some custom stuff and it works seamlessly

Scorpion, Ikkyu and Politank Z by NHK - dunno what else to say, these three are my favorite characters from source (martial masters, blood warrior and waku waku 7 respectively) and they're all done really well

Zagi by Ukege - i don't give two damns about gundam but i love me some hnk. and even for a not-gundam-fan, this is an awesome edit. i pretty much was won over when instead of setting down barrels of gasoline he started chugging them like they were bottles of beer

Yurika Kirishima by Ferviciante - rival schools represent, amazing sprite/animation work, plays like she should with a slight kofxi touch, should've got WAY more attention than she did

Jose and Michael Sobut by envymask666 - two cool beat em up characters with pretty entertaining custom touches. i absolutely love how sobut has an easter egg where if you mash taunt while on level 2 super, he breaks into 'blue suede shoes' and has to dodge every single attack the opponent throws at him. if he doesn't get hit the entire time, he automatically wins

Wow. Lots of really interesting thoughts and opinions everyone. You're all giving me some great material as I read during a nasty cold while on the couch. Mugen has been my Chicken Soup....

On hiatus... Will not be back soon...

DarkCipherLucius' Creations - I can do huge-ass combos with these characters. His Ken's AI is unbeatable, he just rushes & attacks you like a bear.

Reu's creations - Same as DCL's, & more supers & what not.

Kohaku's creations - His Touhou creations are fun to use & also his POTS-like chars.

K (XI) by KOD - He's fun to play as, and his gameplay is a complete success.

Koop's creations - I like both his '02 & XI creations. I a bit more interested in the chars where you can select the gameplay in the config file.

Vans' Creations - His chars are great, but I'm occupied on his Robert because of his 6 fighting styles.

Ethan Lives' (O) Creations - I'm addicted to his edits as they have a truckload of supers.

TJun's creations - I have an interest on his CVS2 style chars who are not from CVS2. I only tried his Mature.

POTS' Creations - His chars are like endless fun. That's all.

The_None's creations - Have an interest in these joke chars as they're funny, like his Shang Tsung.

I'll see if I can find more.

All PotS' Characters - His style is inspiration to many. His custom CvS style is flashy and effective/balanced. One of the main reasons I got into MUGEN and wanted to create myself.

All Jmorphman's Characters - Same as with PotS'.

All of Choujin's DBZ Characters - Choujin made DBZ chars fun and not cheap in MUGEN. Also, the choice of using sprites ripped from the DBZ arcade game was awesome. I've never played or seen that game myself, but I suppose it doesn't matter, because Choujin's style is great.

Strider Hiryu by Splode - This character has really withstood the test of time.

Ruby Heart by Beximus - Great character and RH is one of my fave chars from MvC2.

Wolverine by ArielAlexCo. - Could use some updates, but a very solid Wolverine and my personal favorite.

All of Jin's KoF Characters - Truthfully, I'm not a fan of KoF. Despite this, I like Jin's characters very much. Especially his Ex-Kyo.

Warusaki3's Characters most of them - Personal preference leads me away from characters like Zangief and Benimaru... Even so, Warusaki3 is another creator who inspired me to create. While his chars may not follow gaming priorities/functions with clsns and all, they're still good and follow the CvS2 format quite well.

H"s Mai/Sagat/Cody - H''s Mai was a big help in the creation of my own Mai. His characters are a bit outdated, though they still hold up well against more up to date versions of said characters.

Vyn's CvSx Characters - These characters can use some updates, though I love the effects and inspiration of a focus attack implemented into them. Also his Terry has that cool tornado spinning super.

I've never seen Terry do that in any other game.

I'm more for CvS, though there are all kinds of great characters for MUGEN. That's what makes it great and never dull/stale. Ever changing and forever progressing/evolving. While I may have my favorites, I really do appreciate all legitament works for MUGEN.

Nice choices Divine. I have both Ruby Heart and Strider in my MvC roster. Sander's Wolverine is my personal preference. I will also admit that I have a few of Kong's MvC2 creations. His Silver Samurai feels the most complete to me IMO.

Yeah, I like Sander's Wolvie too, but AlexAriel's Wolvie feels more combo friendly to me. Kong's creations are inspired, but he pushed all of those chars out in like less then a month... He's contributed lots to the MUGEN community however. I used his CVS2 sprite rips for my Mai. Oh and a few others I forgot...

Chrono_Strife's Zangya and Super Garlic JR. - Zangya and Super Garlic JR. Converted well for MUGEN. Nothing else needs to be said.

XCB/Big Eli King's Venom and Jill Valentine - Best MvC conversions of them in MUGEN IMO.

His Ryu might be "the perfection", but his Shin Gouki, albeit slightly unbalanced, is "100% pure fun". Great moves, great feeling, the real Shin Gouki showing his mighty power.

Clark by OrochiKOF97 :
Years after, still the best Clark to date. My favourite grappler from all fighting games, with additional stuff.

Batman by Cybaster :
Yeah, I like my stuff. Thanks to Iced and his Idea Engineering, I'm really proud of this character, with his 3 modes and original stuff.

Goku Z2 and all the next Z2 chars by constant-growing Z2 Team :
It's a real pleasure coding Balthazar's sprites into action. We've developped a nice and efficient gameplay which I feel renders the DBZ universe quite well without relying too much on projectiles and being unbalanced.

Terry WLS by Vans, MotW Terry by GM :
Hmm, yeah, I like Terry in this outfit, and these are very good renditions in their own style.

Tetsu by XCB :
Fun gameplay, and the new balancing update makes him even better. Like POTS' Shin Gouki and Goku Z2, I feel this is the kind of "100% pure fun" character.

Omega Red by Cyanide :
Thanks Cyanide for taking the time to create this character. Respect for all the hours and hair lost coding the helpers and bindings.

Turtles and Krang by Dcat :
Semi MVC gameplay with LOTS of fun combos. All turtles are really different, and Dcat keeps adding awesomess to them.

Evil Ryu, Evil Ken and Dragon Claw by Reu :
Not much to say. You know them. I'l resume by : originality and attention to detail for pure cinematographic fights.

Rajaa Nero and Rajaa Roa :
Badass chars with fun ~~POTS~~ Rajaa style gameplay. I really wish Melty Blood actually played like that.

Leo, Blade, Hauzer by Doggiedoo :
Great renditions of these super charismatic Warzard characters. I love the work on weapons done for Leo.

Most people would say both Cyanide and Cybaster are relentlessly plugging themselves. However, seeing how great they are as contributors, you can only agree with them.

Gotta also agree with Divine on XCB's Venom and Jill. Both of them are in my MvC section, as well as Cyanide's Omega Red. Along with Cybaster's Goku and Batman.

Epic creations, that's for sure.

It could be taken as being arrogant or having an inflated ego with listing your own characters. Though, of course you'd like your own characters, that's why you created them(if you are a creator).

I don't see it negatively however, because I like my own characters too. Also...

I have a number of characters I like (hey, a whole roster full, really), but I'd say the top characters fall into two categories:

I. The Ones I Play As:

ZEE KFM by Zero-Sennin, my favorite KFM varient. Awesome sprites, some of the same gameplay and supers, some not. Plus the wood throw! All around fun to play with and easy to do some combos with. (needs more palettes, though...)

Sub-Zero by Sean Altly, who finally managed to bring a good Capcom style Mortal Kombat character, and a fun one to play at that! Slick, not to easy to play with, but with lots of options as far as ice specials. Overall very nice.

Wonder Woman by Loganir, who is a LOAD of fun, even though I'm starting to move away from VS style. The whip moves are handy, the punch chains are nice, hypers are cool, and the fx look great! The sprites, especially, are incredibly fluid. Not to mention, again, just plain fun!

II. The Ones I Can Appreciate (and try to play as)

DragonClaw by Reu, all the above comments apply, basically. Fluid, AI is beast, fx are slick, and still looks nice despite the kinda dated conversion to the pixel form. Would LOVE to reach a rpoint where I could play this one well.

Goku Z2 by Team Z2... Yeah. You know the drill. Hope it stands the test of time!

OH, that's a tricky one.

Hmmm, Sludge's Shuma Gorath is pretty fun to use, mostly because I've always found him to be a really odd and cool character. XD

Maxime by Ryanide, he's such an original character for Mugen. Weak, but devastating Hyper Combos, and so darn well animated. He also kinda reminds me of a Klonoa character.

Dshiznetz's Gardevoir, I've always thought Gardevoir was freaking cool, not only is she based on acting and theatre (something I work with) she also looks cool!

Splode's Hiryu, it's Strider Hiryu, 'nuff said.

Jill Valentine by Magus, an original and better take on Jill Valentine than even MvC2. He removed the odd zombie strikers in favour of more logical tools and weapons that Jill would use, and still manages to put in a ton of funny bits and references to RE1 & RE3, (BARRY BURTON)

DCat's Turtles... it's TMNT for chips sake!

Kamekaze's C.Falcon, a real surprice release, and fun to use aswell, only nag would be the Falcon Punch being a one button move, but meh. Still fun.

Mukai (any), there's something cool about Mukai compared to other SNK villians, he's not downright evil, he has a great respect for humanity, he's a good loser and eager for a rematch, and even kinda warns you about Saiki. It's a pity he was executed by that damn bastard in KOFXIII, he was so cool.
But perhaps with time being reshaped, perhaps his death has been retconned? Sure hope so.

Suiseiseki by Drowin desu. No honestly, she is fun to use, has a bit of a MVC moveset style, hilarious attacks (vacuum cleaner of kitchen tools?!) and you kinda feel bad about pulling the soul out of someone not even HALF your size if you encounter her in arcade mode.

Metalman by Laspacho. Metalman has ALWAYS been my favourite Megaman boss, nonstop. And combine this with Hyadain's remix theme, Metal Man, Made of Metal, it just so darn badass...

Nijikaku's Heika, what, who? WTF, what did he? Wait, did he just? Huh?

Nijikaku's higyupan and roggyolgee-2, I dunno why, but those MS Paint drawn super robots... are really darn cool, must be the hammy acting.

Mystia Lorelei by minoo, of all the Touhou characters, she's my favourite. She's like a combination of a Siren and Wolverine! (have you seen thoce claws?!)

Obrecht's Scorpion, I think he's cool, not just because of the "get over here" and hellfire stuff, but because he's actually the most neutral character of the bunch. He had a loving family, a cool job (ninja), good life, and then it all were taken away from him by Shang Tsung and Quan Shi. He's so damn tragic, and all he wants, is his people and family back. But ironically, I liked his MK1 appearence the most. XD

Sinistro's Vertigo, Primal Rage (or was it Brutal Rage?) was a narmy, but cool game. Vertigo was probably the most unique of the bunch, and the only unique villian character (both Diablo and Chaos were palette swaps) that, and she's the godess of insanity!! Cthulhu must be mad at her!

Raigus Julius Belmont and Dracula, Julius Belmont, hands down, coolest Belmont in my opinion, altough Richter is very funny for his narmy speech in Sotn. I still use the old version of Dracula just so I can hear Richter and Alucard's speeches overlap each other while talking to Dracula. XD

Bigshowofall's Dedede, yes, hate him or love him. I played the first Kirby's Dreamland before I could even read, and King DeDeDe with his royal coat and Hammer was just so damn cool, not to mention his music theme! So having King DeDeDe playable in Mugen and SSBB just made me collapse in tears of joy. XD

Warner's Wario, I also loved thoce Wario Land games on the Gameboy, so much fun! Wario is a definite favourite, because he's also fun to use in Mugen, and full of funny references to his different games.

Curze's Golden-Silver, with AI: freaking impossible to beat. without AI: Hard, but fun boss fight. Not only that, before appearing as a nightmarish boss fight in Guardian Heroes, he was the final boss of Gunstar Heroes, Treasure's FIRST GAME. That makes him their first villian ever! (not counting General Grey or Smash Daisaku)

Cyclops Beam's Homura Akemi: Aw really Dio? You can stop time and throw daggers at people? Ever experienced having time stopped and facing a ton of mortars and rocket launchers? No? Too baaaaaad...

David Demianoff's Vegeta: I have two words: "Finalo Flash", hilarity ensues...

RY 2005's Abubo Rao: Ahaha, right, Abubo, I just lure him near that pit and... oh wait, no pit? And he's BIGGER? Aw, crap... jokes aside, he's hard to use, but he got a really cool air about him. Really cool character...

Roque's Rera: She's just cool, that's all. Cool... damn cool.

ZAGI, Kuando, Ella & Giano by AIDUZZI, Oh man, where to start. Very well made, funny animations, lots of humour, heart and soul. They are just, plain old fun. Especially Giano, I can totally imagine him being Suave Dude's boss (as in his master). XD

Probably because there's not a lot of dinosaur fightning games. Though there are Lord Sinestro's Primal Rage characters.

list of Dinosaurs characters in fighting games :

Primal Rage characters : Lord Sinestro made Talon, Vertigo, and Diablo , as well as JP Raptor from the genesis JP game, none of these are actaully good, as their being broken , the sadder thing is the very fact that their the ONLY decent PR characters made for mugen

Riptor from Killer instinct : the only one is made by Chaseallendiaz , being unstable , I even talked with the Author himself, but I don't think his gana update his characters anymore , again this is the only KI Riptor in mugen

Gorzilla monsters and Altraman dinos : so many authors yet so little effert

Houzer by Mature Forever and the one by ,: these are like one of the only decent ones out there

Yoshi by.......... oh please

the less we even talk about this the better

Angela Belti by DrKelexo, lets not forget to give him creadits , someone finally made a decent version one of my fav chracters in vidoe games of all times

Enormous ( to say the least ) learning experiences in code / math / basic spriting / frankenspriting / effects / indexing/palettes / others.

It's 100 % trial and error. It truly is the best way to learn.

Angle Draw Sphere by pkrs

This is the weirdest most original unique thing in mugen. It has 2 MB of code ( 11 CNS files ). Its cheap factor ranges from an AI less KFM can kill it's most balanced mode, to being ( the first character to ever be ) able to KILL ( KO ) the character F1.

It basically REEKS of effort.

Dragon Claw by Reu

An original character where multiple aspects were ( well ) done by one person ( something I intend to do myself, in time ).

Mizuchi type m by 608

The same guy that made the Original God Orochi DRASTICALLY re creates him while making fun of his own old creations and admitting they're terrible and that he is ashamed of them by making an intro where they are pancaked.

When you examine both characters files it basically proves that anyone no matter how terrible can improve to unbelievable extents ( God Orochi is one of the laziest characters ever, the remake is the POLAR opposite ).

WARNING, I MAY COME OFF AS ARROGANT IN THIS POST...but I don't really care.

As an author I must confess that I rarely indulge in others works unless it absolutely interests me buuuuut......

Captain Falcon by me- I like this character simply because of the reaction I got for him from everyone else. Like how his falcon punch is one button when it was ALWAYS one button in every "fighter" hes been in. Or that he is difficult to use when hes not. In all honesty I also like him because of how fun he is to me with the combo potential I've given him(check my YT for said combos). He started rather unpolished like most of my works often do but I'm happy with how he is now.

Condor by me - Well what can I say, I tried pretty much all the other ones I've known about and all of them disappointed me, not to say mine is better but I know damn well its more accurate. I've used Condor in breakers since I picked up the game (5 years ago) and when I finally possessed the ability to make him I jumped at it.

Kyosuke by me - Again, something I've always wanted to do and even now he could use an update but I feel I've laid the groundwork for how Rival schools: Project Justice, characters can work in MUGEN while maintaining their source accuracy to a degree.

Jean Pielle by Adamskie - While he was rough around the edges he was pretty much the first legit Karnov character I've ever come across, the thing is dated to the point where I had to do some personal editing of my own to get to be source accurate but beyond that I didn't have to do too much in said editing.

All DBZ: Hyper dimension characters by me - They will always hold a special place in my heart because of the fact that I never found any character that even tried to be accurate to the source. DBZ: HD was one of the first fighters I played after sf2 and I played the f*ck out of it to be honest. So to know that I was able to bring them to life (as close to accurate as possible) in mugen made me feel that much better about my decision to convert all of them.

MvC2 Hulk by me - He is my most recent work but as I said it took pretty much a year to get the super armor system accurate to mvc2 down to the last detail. I'm more proud of that then the fact that I converted him honestly, but it is also true that MUGEN was lacking a decent (accurate) hulk as well.

Skullomania by DEMAN - I know I have a history of butting heads with this author over his less than accurate choices from some properties of moves (otg sweep seriously wtf), but it was a SFEX character that felt like it should which to me was amazing since the game gets next to no love at all times. Now I did make some personal adjustments for better accuracy(like the damn otg sweep sh*t) but it still remains one of my favorite chars to use. His Shadow Giest is just the same to me as well.

Tetsu by XCB - Love him or hate lets all be honest, he had a huge impact on almost all of us from the 2k5-2k8 era and even still today some people may still be impacted by it. While it had flaws and was notorious for its ease of use it pretty much got me that much more interested in making chars to begin with. Special mention is Jill by XCB as well.

All DBZ chars by choujin- Again, another huge inspiration to me and while some of his works are known for being somewhat cheap, they were still a blast to use.

GM's SF3 characters - Do I really need to explain? They are what inspired me to do Dudley honestly. That and the lack of accurate sf3 Dudley. GM da bes, nuff said.

Rugal by Jin - Rugal is without a doubt one of my favorite snk characters and Jin's take on him just for the sprites alone was breathtaking. It's not the best rugal but he inspired some things that I plan to release in the future.

Geese Howard by M.I.B.(KOD, Koopakoot, Vans) - It's just my favorite kof geese really. Everything feels just about right even if its not exactly accurate.

Mech Gouki by MystikBlaze - He did a fantastic job on one of my favorite vs series bosses.

Kenshiro by Drowin(Edited by um......ffffff I forgot his name)- Not so much drowin, hell not drowin at all. Mostly because of the edit that made him arcade accurate was so good.

Potemkin by Muteki - Potemkin is my main on every Guilty Gear. That being said it's also worth stating that Muteki has come a long way with his GG works as they used to be inaccurate piles of trash imo. They are getting there honestly feel one update away from being MUGEN-wise perfect.

Koopa Troopa by LegatoB and Titiln - He's small yet hes awesome and hes well done. He's a good character. That's all.

Krauser by Jin - See rugal by Jin. Also he plays pretty well despite some minor issues I have with it.

SFA2 Gouki by GDT - The best sfa2 Gouki/Akuma in existance imo. it has some slight flaws though (not being able to kara demon), but nothing that can't be fixed with some tweaking. Also includes shin akuma mode which is great for a final boss.

That's all I got for now, I'm sure there's more but that's all I can remember

My favorite MUGEN characters?

Well...

1.) All 6 character edits I have officially released for starters. Since I have (partially) made those characters, I can use them and make them to a higher level of standard.

2.) Fat Albert by DDR. One of my first characters in MUGEN and one of the most used too.

3.) Most characters by The_None. These characters are pure gold in humor!

4.) And lots others. I can't name them all now. That will have to wait for later.

A couple of other favorites of mine...

Ella, Kuando, Giano and Ubu by Aiduzzi. These creations should be at the top of your must have list as they are 100% original. What makes these shine are their interactivity and style, not to mention their excellent playability.

Thor, Wonder Woman and SandMan by Loganir. Another batch of originally sprited characters that feature solid gameplay on top of fantastic design/animations. I would consider these characters precursors to Balthazar's amazing work. Which is how you should create characters from scratch!!

And Kamakaze, I don't think you come off of arrogant at all. Your MvC2 conversions kick some serious ass.

Well, not quite 100%. Unless you're talking about sprites and gameplay, but it was my understanding that Ella was Samara from The Ring, and the rest were from Japanese legend?

Could be mistaken, though.

Anyways, another three I'd like to add to the list is GM's Char's Zaku, Char's Zugock & Acguy. Simple, fun, Gundam, love the close ups on the Supers and the added effect that the opponent explodes when killed with a Super. The A.I. also provides a challenge but is not impossible.

Nerfed?? When I play against them, I generally use them as sub-bosses, so I think they're right. At least for me

I hope Aiduzzi keeps making more stuff for MUGEN (even when I know it's actually retired)

Well, seeing various of you made their list with own creations, I see why not make mine:
-Eric - Unperfect Shotoklone
More than my greatest creation ever, he's more like my son. He was one of the first projects I made and spent several years making him, and the final result still amuses me. A character I never get bored and always is in every roster I made
-SS4 Gen-an Shiranui
My very first project, as Eric I spent many years making him and I get satisfied with the experiment. Also Gen-an is one of my main chars in first 2 SS games. I've to improve him more than now
-Reiji Oyama
My first finished character and the base for a lot of my future creations, as well the first of many classic chars I made, he's my guide and the only template I use
-EX chars
My first attempt to make a KOF gameplay and I think I did a good job with [E], based in one of his chars and a guide for me about creating KOF stuff since always. The first one was Rai, and later Yuki and Ryu got this gameplay. I hope to make more like them as well improving more and more, since I still thinking the EX gameplay can't be called as "finished" or "done" yet

He's the proof that with very few sprites you can make a decent character for MUGEN. He's my pride and a gift for all old-school players out there, and the first of the 8-Bit series. It comes more, I assure you

-CF's Earthworm Jim
My new pride. One of my favourite character of all times made for first time in N64's ClayFighter series, it was an honor to rip and make him for MUGEN, he'll be the base for all the other CF chars I wanted to make
-Another k9999
AKIRA was the anime that changed my life, and Tetsuo Shima always was one of my favourite characters ever. And since k9999 it was a SNK tribute to him, why not make him more accurate to AKIRA?? A year of work that I enjoyed to make and now he's in every roster I make right now

Also, various of you remind me about other notable chars I like and use, so soon I'll make another list with them

Well....again, not completely original, since they are all references to other movies. The teddie bear being Freddy, the famous knife in the shower scene, ect....but yes. They certainly play in their own unique style, and have their own original sprites and all that jazz.

Point being, she's a clever bunch of references made into a unique original character.

Anyways...another character to add, MikuMMD_L by deretun. Now, I don't like Miku. I find the voice irritating, and the cutsey-anime thing isn't for me. Ignoring that, I still enjoy this conversion of her 3D model from Miku Miku Dance into a good fighter. She has creative musical attacks that she uses as some form of magic, which I thought was real clever. And the animations on her Supers are amazing. The A.I. patch for her makes her another fun challenge to beat, and she's not too hard to figure out to play. Only issue I can take with it is the hair color is the wrong shade of blue....

One Alpha at a time

Blair Dame by XCB - Gameplay system that is fucking ownage and a very strict but fun combo system will have you coming back for more in between breakfast, lunch and dinner. Beautiful use of sparks and artwork as well.

Goku and Batman by Cybaster - For the same exact reasons mentioned above on Blair.

The Reuben Kee Trio - A must for ANY mugen vet or noob. That's it.

Master Ken by Laquak - Yeah I know people are gonna be like "WTF?...Jmorph and even Hero made a MUCH better Ken than that" and I like those two Kens as well...but with Laquak's I actually get the most fun out of my mugen time. Long chaining custom combos that do very fair damage add a lot of replay value and he doesn't quite play like "just another shoto-clone".

Sagat by KuraiNaito - The all around badass beast of a man that we all know with a very enjoyable and fierce gameplay system. This character just kicks ass, seriously.

Chun-Li by Beterhans - Again...I know Jmorph's Chunners is hot shit, even with her Shadow Lady mode innovations yada yada, but I really have a lot more fun with this one even if she is not "accurate" to anything in particular. I just love how well everything was incorporated and...Them chomboes mang.

Ryu by DG (and further edits by Kibanaruto22) - Too much MVC style combo fun and overall Ryu goodness that never gets old.

Wonder Woman by Loganir - Imo the BEST DC comics character brought to something similar to MVC style. This character is loads of fun to learn to play as and also very very tough to fight against. The overall presentation is stunning and you can never go wrong with her.

Ermac and Sub Zero by Pneopen - If you are an MK1&2 junkie then look no further than these two. They have all the original goodness and a bunch of custom stuff that is bound to please you.

Bloody Scorpion & Bloody Shang Tsung by Bleed - This guy takes the MK customizing to the next level. Even though his characters are still roughly in the works they are very enjoyable and a must download and play for anyone that loves MK.

Anything PoTS, Koopakoot, Rajaaboy, Jzilla, Warusaki, Kamekaze, Orbinaut, JMorphman, B.B.Hood...to many more to mention - Overall excellent coders who ensure accuracy in their characters. You know you have a quality character when their name is involved.

Anything by Ahuron and TheNone for shits and giggles...although they do have some very serious accurate shit as well.

Anything BlackChaos - Cuz the man can handle accuracy and also bring something new to the table like a champ.

Anyways...that's off the top of my list right now...there's too much great stuff out there.

Leo, Raph, Mikey, & Don by Dcat - These chars are full of so much win. I couldn't stop laughing at when I first DL'd them, and did their grab where they throw their opponent into the screen like the arcade game. What an awesome idea Dcat had with implementing that. Great comboing ability, all around fun chars to have. I hope everything is alright with Dcat as well. I'm very much looking forward to his Krang and Shredder. If you don't have TURTLE POWA, you better get some!

When I was starting out in MUGEN, I was looking for a bunch of random characters out of boredom, and came across the link in the creator's signature (I can't be arsed to spell out his username because it's confusing japanese spelling whatever) and thought Barns was gonna be some sort of obese hillbilly with a straw-hat and a shotgun for whatever reason. I was wrong, and he was, and still is, a sheer blast to mess around with. Even got me hooked on finding doujin/obscure fighting games to mess around with. Although I was never really good at that part. Thank heavens for MelvanaInChains and the like.

This one really turned me on to original characters in general. Had a blast impaling Ryu in the chest with a freaking BONE SPIKE. Seriously, this was the best thing ever back then. And it's still fun to fool around with his characters. Freakin' LOVE it.

This character is quite a treat. One of my favorite stand users since the ability is so unique. I mean, attacking with raindrops? That's pretty badass. Also the mask is swag.

Setsuna and Hibiki by HSR
These two really introduced me to SNK, because in a southwestern town in Missouri, the only thing closest to The Last Blase was Guitar Hero. Well, I'd say re-introduced, since the first time I actually touched an SNK game was a horrible bout of SamSho in a bowling alley. :u
Still, I love 'em to this day.

I'm also under the impression that people keep neglecting data from the game, do you guys know how PotS made his original characters? He actually studied every single game he referenced, down to the core. Doing this properly requires understanding how the original system was made, not just winging it.

The Four Sinistrals by Kumomaru: Simple, fun to play, and a challenge to fight.

Cool by Mass: My favorite Daraku Tenshi character converted right (didn't like Tommy Gun's).

Joker by NGI: Take a character from an obscure SF clone, Put a Japanese voice from a Max Payne dub, add some other stuff, and you've got a character that's a lot of fun.

Kamen Rider Kuuga by Ruina&Azuma: The only half way decent KR character converted.
