Going through several characters, one can see that some have the "A" button mapped to their main palette while others have it mapped to "X".
Hell, some characters have it mapped to both keys.

What button do you prefer to have as your main palette button?

I've personally always been using "A" as my main palette button, but a large amount of the characters I've been downloading have it mapped to "X".
I'm thinking of changing all my char's main palette to be mapped to the "X" button instead, just to save me extra trouble.

When I started playing with mugen I was used to "a" and at the time the characters I had had the first palette mapped to "a".

Now I'm used to "x" more. So I voted for "x".

Definitely "X" i just don't get why we use "A" nowadays.

Only scrubs like Jmorphman set the default pallete on "x"

x. x is the only answer. It's what most Capcom and SNK games use, too.

Since I use 1.1, pal1 should be the default palette or else the small portrait will have some sort of different palette, so 'A' on my end.

I'm pretty used to X but in all honesty I'm of the "I don't care" camp as usual.

Pal1 can be mapped to x as easily as it can be mapped to a!

I mostly just use any other palettes anyway. So either A or X are the buttons for the main palettes, I don't mind it.

Ive added palette selectors to the max majority of my characters so if doesn't matter what button I press.
But by force of habbit I guess I press "A"
