Saturn did have the best 6 button pad layout.

That's with a VMU connected. With two of them you can easily make workout just lifting it.

Saturn's controller is still the finest (overall) I've ever used to this day; especially for fighters.

I've always felt that way myself about Xbox & 360.  I'd assume you'd then consider Sony the present-day Nintendo... at least I do. 

As for the old console wars of the 90's, the Wii just doesn't fit anywhere in the equation.

D-pad.  The face buttons would be alright if there were six instead of four.

@Messatsu: Yeah, I mean the D-Pad. I really hated the D-Pad... matter of tastes, really, but some friends also had a DC and they ranted over the pad also, so I thought it was a general feel about it.

The way it sticked out and had that + sign shape (no diagonals) made it great for special motions IMO.  PS d-pad is so uncomfortable (for fighting games) exactly for lacking that first part, it's almost as if it goes inside the controller when you press it.

Honestly, I prefer the Dualshock for fighters, but then again I've been using a Dualshock since I got my PS1.  My main gripe with the DC controller is the lack of a sixth button on the right; having to pull HP with my left trigger really screws with my target combos in Third Strike.  I don't have any issues pulling specials with the Dualshock D-pad, and I have all six attacks off my right hand.

OH GOD FINALLY I FOUND A PERSON THAT REALLY UNDERSTAND MY FEELINGS... <3
I use the same configuration (Capcom's default for their lastest games, since PSX era ones were like Snes config).

I hate playing Capcom Fighters on PSP because of the missing second shoulder button.

PS2 (i had it since its debut, still works like a charm)
Xbox (dont play it anymore, safely tucked under my bed)
Xbox 360 (havent played it in like a half a year, lol)
PS3 (play it on a regular basis. the god of consoles imo)
PSP (play it from time to time, wish i could play it on my tv)
Gamecube (i picked it up last year to play smash bros and that mgs game, havent played recently)
