With Two4Teezee and I working on BrokenMugen 1.0 (shameless plug, I know!!  ;D), this got me thinking....

There have been lots of excellent SP's out there that are amazingly original, as well as accurate to their original source material. Off the top of my head, we have EvE Battle (my first used SP, and I thought it was quite decent, even to this day), Capcom Fighting Evolution Gold, BlazeBlue, Metal Gear Solid, Street Alpha Alpha 3.... Yes, we have lots of options.

But what about games that haven't been given the well deserved treatment?? Or at least ScreenPack's that are based off of non fighting games?? There's quite a bit of uncovered material that would make for some amazing, new Mugen releases.

Personal case in point: If anyone has played both R4: Ridge Racer Type 4 and Ridge Racer V, you would KNOW that both titles showcase some amazing front ends/menu screens that bleed well designed, excessively cool style. I loved R4's background menu elements and jazzy tunes. Ridge Racer V's menu animations are amongst the coolest touches I have ever seen personally in gaming. And hearing the BGM "Lolo 1010" loop in the background while absorbing these touches is simply menu screen bliss. I actually had that song playing in my WinMugen version of BrokenMugen for quite a while. I think Mugen needs more screenpacks with subtle, yet amazing touches that make our favorite fighting game engine stand out a bit further.

What are your thoughts??

This is what I had in mind when I made my Smackdown vs Raw screenpack.  I saw the select screen on 2011 (which is actually based on the draft roulette screen in the actual WWE shows) and thought it would be awesome for a fighting game.

I love the idea of original screenpacks for Mugen, but I'm the type of user that likes to have a central theme in his roster. Original screenpacks are always a refreshing change of pace from game themed screenpacks, but sometimes it does feel a bit difficult thinking about how to execute it. I've had the idea of creating a toku themed screenpack floating in my head for some time now, but I've been wondering how I should execute it.

That would be AWESOME!! I'm all for that. Technically, that would be an easy make as I'm thinking of the classic 8-bit version. An X themed release would be cool as well....

I was thinking about one based on starfox which wouldn't be hard but It's not something I'm going to get around to doing any time soon.

A non-fighting games SP is definitely more unique and different than other "[INSERT GAME NAME HERE] vs [INSERT GAME NAME HERE]" SP. That is the strong point of original SP.

But it is not easy to create that kind of thing. You must have deep knowledge about the source (anime, manga, racing games, novel, etc) for your original SP so that other could feel the right atmosphere about the source in it.

Though it would be cool if see someone create a Kamen Rider SP. Haven't got time to create it by myself. :P

And pretty please no Twilight or Justin Beiber SP. There is enough pain, misery and horror in the real world for us to handle.

you can make anything if you can keep a theme. Making lifebars to match your screen pack can be a pain. I've made some goofy looking stuff.

I'd guess the only ones out so far that I know of would be the Xbox Original Lifebars.  If one was made for the screenpack in particular, though, I'd imagine some sort of cross between UNSC steel and Covenent purple metal, with some sort of platnium Forerunner-like timer.

But that's just my guess how they woud look.

Id like to see a Infamous style screenpack or something along those lines (viewtiful joe maybe?). I saw these abandoned persona 4 life bars that would fit perfectly with it.

I had to share this. Check out the quality on animations and how great everything meshes together. This is the type of stuff screenpacks should have by default.

MUGEN needs more classic screenpacks, I would love to see (and better, to make) a Final Fight screenpack (or at least lifebars) based in some of their games

Well, at  least I made the lifebars for that kind of screenpack (I would love too make the SP, too... I've to learn more how to make SP)

Would be dope if it were. I enjoy original screepacks personally because I'm tired of seeing rehashed versions of MVC/KOF/SF screenpacks. Thats boring and doesn't really take any creativity to make a screenpack for a already themed idea.
