Why don't you look at the damn update list
If I struggled to the end of my determination, to the end of my way of life with my followers, if the result is ruin, then this ruin is inevitable. Grieve. Shed tears. But you cannot regret.

Why don't you look at the damn update list

Because some people are not computer/internet savvy. Remember that everyone starts as a noob.

Byakko is right though, check out Elecbyte's site. Because the new version is only a release candidate, I recommend only switching to it, if you are using a 16:9 aspect ratio monitor.

... Since when do you need to be Internet-savvy to click the "Update History" link that is literally right next to the download link for Mugen itself on Elecbyte's site ? ??? I mean, it says "Download ZIP - README - Update History", you do not need to study computers for 5 years to understand that. Any "n00b" can see that.

It doesn't say OLDER MUGEN and MUGEN 1 on Elecbyte's website.

Maybe she just read the forum titles. :o

It'll play any old character that was coded properly. It won't play things that were coded shit. This is a good way to filter your roster. If a character doesn't load in mugen 1.0 you should delete it.

Are the characters of DOSMUGEN playable in WINMUGEN? I have an older version of MUGEN, probably should I say DOSMUGEN... I tried the characters of DOSMUGEN in WINMUGEN... But the message says "character needs to be updated"...

Characters that work on WinMugen normally should work on Mugen 1.0.
Depending on how it was made, a character from DOSMugen may not work on WinMugen. And then there was the older versions of DOSMugen, where the names and all didn't even have quotes, among other random coding details.
If I struggled to the end of my determination, to the end of my way of life with my followers, if the result is ruin, then this ruin is inevitable. Grieve. Shed tears. But you cannot regret.

then there something is poorly coded perhaps. like command move name without "..."
or => instead of >= things like that beyond the converter detection

Hellooooo? I'm not a character programmer... Sorry for that... :(

So I need to edit the CMD file, and put some quotations on the command lines? What about the CNS? Does it need editing too?

then read the full message, tell us what it is and THEN we'll see what to do to help you... We can't do anything for you if you don't tell us what Mugen tells you.

Again, it depends on the error Mugen gives you. This is not magic where we just tell Mugen "fix it" and bam it works.

Take a screenshot of the error message and post it here to see what we can do.

BTW, since this thread turned into this should this be moved to M.U.G.E.N Configuration Help?

I'll create a new TOPIC in M.U.G.E.N Configuration Help section. As soon as I found the error messages, and post it...

Actually, if Elecbyte's aim is for full legacy support, their parser should be IDENTICAL. :P

Personally, I would prefer the engine to 'scan' the whole char and point out the mistakes so we can fix'em. Just crashing amidst a match when a faulty state is loaded is quite frustrating. :(

My stuff crashes before the match starts if it's broken. I haven't had a mid state crash for years.

I wonder if this'll let me sort out that debug spam in deuce's jedah. I just cannot FIND it.

mid match crash is more memory related than state error I believe, stucked character might happen though, but not a complete crash due to a faulty state.

nah, they also happen, those are weird, tho. I have had mid match crashes happen in mugen with 8 chars or less and having only 2 very simple chars (memory wise) on screen.
