The best way to bash a bad creation is to utterly ignore the thread. Don't bump it, don't give it the time of day.

i would add that if you dislike it that much, make videos about it and keep the drama on youtubes

Empty generic criticism could always be split off by mods and katamaried into a "Bad feedback" thread here in Mugen Discussion as an example of what not to do - mindless bashers would get their visibility, but not at the expense of the thread or by extending its lifespan.

Tsunamidusher's "protocol" is sort of how I do things.

If a guy is a new creator, I give him feedback as I'd do for anyone, pointing out mistakes and what should be changed, linking to tutorials if needed.
     - If the guy answers well and wants to progress, then I'll continue giving him feedback with his next releases or updates. If he says he doesn't know how to fix one of his bugs, I'll give him the name of the controller/trigger he needs (without giving the entire code).
     - If the guy answers like a dick and clearly thinks he's the shit, then I just ignore him or give him more feedback, but with bashing included.

I would of loved your feedback like 5 years ago... well, I still will.

Well... I guess that everyone is free to express what they think... but what it really matters is that you waste your time if the character needs improvement and the author rejects any feedback he gets... In that case, as Cybaster said, don't botter on give any feedback and just see another thread, same goes for people that don't like the character itself (no matter the coding or anything else) if the character itself is not of your taste, don't post, is just waste of time... this days we have no time, is silly to waste it that way...

Even harsh feedback is usefull, though it looks rude, if they include WHAT is wrong, you are getting what you needed... feedback.

About users that help or not in the help section... I think that we need to stablish that, whenever a new user posts in that forum, even those "bad ass rude old coder gurus" -note the sarcasm- are there waiting to help (or at least if they see the question they will answer in that moment if they can), but at least 42% of the times, the questions posted are either answered already or they are just simple questions that are contained in the mugen documentation... yeah, I know, this has been told several times, but the mugen documentation is THERE for a REASON... see this example:

You go and buy a complete Home Theatre for your living room, and it needs a certain instalation... what you do? ask the neighbor or read the instruction manual if you already purchasded that with the whole damm thing? I guess the answer is obviuos...

Returning to the point, there is always people that helps you with many stuff in mugen, at least I can talk about Cyanide, Byakko (no matter what you think...) Cybaster, Kung Fu Man, Messatsu, and many others, that have enough time here at mugen and certainly help you, but you need at least to know what the docs say, I guess it's a bit boring for them answering the same question over and over again until they faint...

In my personal point of view, this is relative, you need to be open-minded if you want to be in whatever community you choose, and don't take it too personal, EVERYWHERE in world you will find kind people, others that go only to the point, people that don't care for nothing and jerks... is your desition. Believe me, if you think you found bashers and unwanted people here... you don't EVEN know how is it going on a hyspanic or latin american forum (specially emulation ones some time ago) THAT is bashing...

meh too many theories. Its plain internet assholeness. i find it more unbelievable that people are still affected by it even when on their 3rd or fourth release (a year of taking crap maybe), just scroll down or read what is useful and ignore the rest, at this point it becomes the authors fault really often dissmissing actual feedback cuz some dude calls them poopy head or worse plain fueling a back and forth shitstorm of lame and desperate attempts to ZOMG PWND the oppostion.  Ya ya you put months of work into it; more the reason to know how much your work is worth and not let trolling get to you.
