This kinda fits everywhere from Fighting to All Thats Left, but can't wait for Google+ integration!http://variety.com/2014/digital/news/youtube-to-acquire-videogame-streaming-service-twitch-for-1-billion-sources-1201185204/QuoteGoogle’s YouTube has reached a deal to buy Twitch, a popular videogame-streaming company, for more than $1 billion, according to sources familiar with the pact. The deal, in an all-cash offer, is expected to be announced imminently, sources said. If completed the acquisition would be the most significant in the history of YouTube, which Google acquired in 2006 for $1.65 billion. The impending acquisition comes after longtime Google ad exec Susan Wojcicki was named CEO of YouTube earlier this year.
Can't wait for all gaming streams to be shut down/to no longer provide income to streamers.Or for twitch to stop seeing use.
Google is the DEVIL.I swear to god... They are going to pretty much own EVERY FUCKING THING in EVERY FUCKING SITE by 2020 if they continue to buy every company. First Youtube, now Twitch. Way to use your damn money. Google.
its not gonna be terrible for big streams but google+ integration will definitely be fucking awful and terrible also i expect people who use this for recreational streaming have now lost a major outlet to do so cause they cant cough up the proper credentials to stream certain content. it seems like that particular group of people will be the most fucked over.

Oh darn, here comes the Google account and copyright claim rush.I really wished that someone else brought out Twitch.EDIT: On second thought, it would not be so bad if Google stopped their Google + integration (which is happening for a while) and used actual humans for their screening for Copyrighted Streams instead of bots.In fact, how in the world would bots be able to check for copyright? The main concern is that a channel can switch to copyrighted movie showing or some sort and then go offline or switch into something else quickly enough that the bots will not be able to catch it.
After the backlash they got while trying to integrate G+ into YT, I don't think Twitch will get it, and I don't think they're going to screw over streams like that. Also maybe the awful 30 second delay will go away That said, this might just be wishful thinking. I'm surprisingly indifferent on the whole thing.
I have no clue how Twitch works except that I know you can watch stuff live, shows how much I keep up with the times.DNZRX768 said, May 21, 2014, 09:24:10 pmOn second thought, it would not be so bad if Google stopped their Google + integration (which is happening for a while) and used actual humans for their screening for Copyrighted Streams instead of bots.In fact, how in the world would bots be able to check for copyright? Too many streams and streamers to have humans do the work.
http://shoryuken.com/2014/07/24/googles-1-billion-twitch-acquisition-confirmed/Guess it will be Google after all and not just "youtube".
Tyrant Belial said, July 25, 2014, 08:38:25 amWell if it's Google then it's alot harder for Google to fuck up in comparison.Jesus, 1 Billion?I would think that the price would be higher...
Quote*all old broadcasts are going to be deleted; highlights will be saved indefinitely but only in two hour chunks (source)*if you use copyrighted audio at all (including in-game audio) and save the video for later the entire 30 minute chunk that audio was in will be muted (source)Thanks a lot Google

Thats horrible smdh
So any company can just go "Our music in game is not allowed anymore" despite it being a Game Streaming Site. And have the entire thing muted.
yeah seriously pretty much man^^ I wonder how far it will go though. Most video game OSTS dont have issues on youtube but actual normal music youd hear on the radio does. A song like we are the champions will be cut off by youtube before any thought goes to the SF2 Guile theme. thats copy right too but they dont care about shit like that....
If by "the world" you mean the internet, then yes.Of course this would happen, but was expecting worse tbh.
1) Audible Magic only scans VODs of streams so livestreams are not muted (not sure how they would enforce this on live streams anyways)2) There is still no official word on Twitch being bought by Google. Please don't kneejerk shitty reactions without doing a little research first.3) Audible Magic is a service that Google doesn't even use to find copyrighted material in videos, they use Content ID.Technically, Twitch has been breaking copyright laws for awhile by allowing copyrighted music to be saved as videos, so for all you know this is just to cover their asses.
So long as this doesn't affect video game music and in general it shouldn't, this isn't hurting me at all. It's just really really weird. Oh well.
Does this in-game audio consist of third party music? For instance, a 50 cent song in...well, 50 cent blood on the sand? I stream mostly Nintendo games so again, I'm pretty secure.
No, more like Crypt of the Necrodancer (These are false flags however). And Darksiders 2 (Not false flags)
i have to highlight my huge tournament streams in 2 hr blocks just to save them from getting deleted, what a hassle. i dont want to let go of the footage tho, theyre memories
Guys, fix the title of the topic.Amazon Buying Twitch for Nearly $1 BillionTwitch's CEO Emmett Shear LetterQuote"It’s almost unbelievable that slightly more than 3 years ago, Twitch didn’t exist. The moment we launched, we knew we had stumbled across something special. But what followed surprised us as much as anyone else, and the impact it’s had on both the community and us has been truly profound.[...]Your talent, your passion, your dedication to gaming, your memes, your brilliance – these have made Twitch what it is today. Every day, we strive to live up to the standard set by you, the community. We want to create the very best place to share your gaming and life online, and that mission continues to guide us.[...]I’m pleased to announce we’ve been acquired by Amazon. We chose Amazon because they believe in our community, they share our values and long-term vision, and they want to help us get there faster. We’re keeping most everything the same: our office, our employees, our brand, and most importantly our independence. But with Amazon’s support we’ll have the resources to bring you an even better Twitch.[...]It’s dangerous to go alone. On behalf of myself and everyone else at Twitch, thank you for coming with us."
