This is a pretty decent character, I love the FX used for the spells, the only thing missing is the pattern for the legs ..c'mon MFG so some support. I feel like comicbook characters get no love around here. =(

I'm going to disagree with this.  I've played the older version of the character and that was pretty lacking (I'm fond of the Zatanna character myself) and I dropped it quickly.  This however, I've tried and REALLY enjoy. The animation on the legs is perhaps in need of work, but I enjoy the play style, ideas, audio and effects on the character. (For his Jubliee and Zatanna - the effects really stand out!)

I'm not a creator, so my criteria for "good" is (I imagine) different than others, and while I may download some of the less polished DC/Marvel characters, if they ultimately are off somehow - I just can't play them.  But this Zatanna plays "fun".

And I'd disagree about the accepting of feedback (for Chimoru at least); his Jubliee has lots of feedback and he seems to have been open to all of it - he even released an update based on the feedback.

Regardless, I'm not trying to debate (I assume you're convinced) - just saying I don't think its fair to be so negative of the creators and the creation.

I don't hate feedback, but sometimes people leave comments that they THINK is feedback, but it's really just "your character is bad".  OK, what am I supposed to do with that?  What exactly is bad?  I need to narrow it down the specific problem. Sometimes I agree with it, sometimes I don't.  Sometimes, because of my weak skills in certain areas, there isn't much I can do. I'm still learning.

For example, with these sprites.  I didn't start this Zatanna from scratch, so I tried to just keep her how she was, but add a few new sprites.  I'm not a good spriter, but I did my best.  I suppose I could have shown a bit more love and re-do ALL of them, but I didn't.  She also doesn't have multiple palettes because I don't know how to make them. Sorry. I DO feel bad about that.  I love Zatanna too, and I love Jubilee.  That's why I chose them.  I just can't show it like some of the pros can.

With Jubilee, people told me the CLSN were bad, so I went back and fixed them. Or the sounds and FX needed tweaking, so I did that.  I'm STILL trying to fix her. She was easier because I had more sprite source material to work from because Avalon did them for me.  I feel that if you don't have a lot of sprites, you don't have a lot of options. I tried to do the best with what I could at the time. Are either of them perfect?  No, but I hope you can enjoy them just the same.  It doesn't mean that I can't go back and fix them as my skills get better. I learned a lot making them!

So I will watch this thread and you guys can leave me your criticism here and I will read it.
If it's about those doves though, I know, I'm just still tryin to figure THAT out!  LOL

I remember when I made those sprites a long time ago for my UFGE projects, and they were used for a very sub-standard character.

This creation makes up for it, though.  Some awesome work there!

Feedback:
- missing required sprite: 5062,0;

- walking forward or backward will leave the character standing in air or below the floor level:

- some of the effects for the basics have shadow:
standing light punch,
standing medium punch,
standing strong punch,
crouching light punch,
crouching medium punch;

- default hitsparks (I'm listing it here, but it's not a real point);

- a lot of her basics have default hitsounds; you have all the sounds you need, so this is easy to fix. :)

- Misplaced hitsparks for her standing light punch, her standing kicks and the crouch strong kick;

- some CLSNs should be made better, like the animation 230, AnimElem = 3; or the animation 430, 3rd frame; the attacks have a very high priority (you should put a blue CLSN box):

- the launcher hitdef has too high ground and air velocities (I can't pull out an aerial combo for that);

- the effect of D,DF,F, any punch has shadow;

- the pidgeons don't have shadow (they should have shadow);

- the teleport effects have shadow; also, I think it misses a NotHitBy;

- the standing medium punch should hit on frame 9 in my opinion; the standing strong punch should hit on frame 4;

- I think the sprpriority in the stand strong punch should be used for the stand medium punch and the sprpriority for the stand medium punch should be used for the stand strong punch; in other words you should swap their sprpriority, so it looks better.

Ok, I never noticed the shadows because I was testing in 1.1 and they don't show up there.  I'll have to test in both from now on.

Good criticisms, I'll try to improve on what I can from this.

If possible, the legs should be edited (if possible) to match the shading of the rest of her. Every time I see it the Morrigan legs are the first thing I see

Maybe I should get my mind out of the gutter

Alex, I think I fixed everything you said except that last part with the sprpriority.  The Med Standing punch doesn't even have one unless you were referring to it's helper part.  Besides, I think it's layered how I intended it, so I left it alone.

Thank you again for the critique and I will try to be thorough with testing in the future.

- qcb+2P makes mugen slow down, probably because you spawn too many helpers. My Mugen goes down to 34fps.
- The launcher sends P2 too high. When performing Launcher > Super Jump, Zatanna doesn't jump high enough to chain into an aerial rave.
