Here are a couple of more sprite sheets of SNK style edits for my UFGE projects. These are open source for anyone to use.
Segata Sanshiro

Segata Sanshiro was a character created for a weird, but suprisingly successful Japanese ad campaign by Sega. Basically, he is a judo man who attacks people who don't play Sega Saturn. It's a bit hard to explain, but a good primer on Segara can be found at
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3lCF8O2N50Even though this is just a quickee head swap (or top of head swap) of Takuma and Goemon from Ninja Masters, it actually came out better than I thought. My original idea was to use Marco from Mark of the Wolves, but looking through Takuma's sprites, I found more of his to be a better fit for the move ideas. I felt I could get away with just a head swap since Segata was a basic design, and more of his character would come out with the moves and sounds (ripped from the commercials).
Here's an example of what I've done with him.

Red Dragon is from 3 Count Bout wrestling game for the Neo Geo. He is based on a Japanese wrestler named The Great Muta (

At first I thought editing Ramon's shirt would be easier, but the pallete of the shirt and shirt lines didn't match like i thought they would. I was able to get rid of most of the lines, and in gameplay they don't seem as noticable, although there is still room for improvement. Missing in the sheet are the poison mist projectile sprites which I ripped from KOF 2000 Lin (inspired by Swipergod's use of it for his Raiden).
