Here is the Samurai Spirits Tenka screenpack 2.0 by me.

Taken from the readme:

Installation:

1) put the 'sstenka' folder in 'data'
2) open 'mugen.cfg'
3) where it says 'motif' set 'motif=data/sstenka/system.def'
4) or 'motif=data/sstenka/altsystem.def' for the smaller select and vs screen fonts
5) enjoy

Features:

-Title screen is 100% accurate to original
-Fully animated select screen, as accurate as possible
-VS and option screens
-Lifebars with animated rounds and ko's, as accurate as possible
-Announcer number 2 from SSTenka (cuz he's gangsta, son!)
-Music
-Fonts and a bunch of other shit I can't remember

Whats Left:

-Storyboards (Gameover, Ending, Intro etc...)
-Common.snd
-FightFX

Thanks:

-Fanto for all the shit you taught me about Photoshop and Mugen
-SNK for making these awesome graphics, and for Samurai Shodown
-MugenChina for ripping said graphics
-All you clowns on Mugenguild who gave me useful feedback
-Elecbyte for making Mugen, the most time-consuming shit ever...

Some screenshots of the lifebars... they include faces, I just don't have them enabled in mine.

Overall, it's a good start.

Some problems:

1) You should provide your own select.def file to dictate where the player select boxes should be.

2) When teams are chosen, the names overlap.

Nice work so far, some feedback:

- Music paths are incorrect, you used "ssvi" instead of "sstenka" as the folder's name. Love Tenka's OST btw
- Stage name font could be a bit larger or more contrasting, and aligned to the right so it never (almost) gets outside the screen
- VS fonts need fixing too, aligned to the left for P1/P3 and to the right for P2/P4, plus could be smaller (KFM's name gets cut)
- The lag between the character intros and when the round actually starts is huge, I always hate that in lifebars. I suggest making the fight start as soon as the announcer says "Shoubu!"
- Related to the previous point, if you skip the intros the lag is even more noticeable. Don't remember if that can be fixed though
- Misses Simul bars. Plus Fight.sff still has Mugen's default bars, I suggest getting rid of them just for optimization's sake
- Range of Turns lifebars is incorrectly coded
- Chars couldn't pass in front of the bars in SS6, neither in most fighting games
- Combo meter disappears before exiting the screen

- "Character selection frame" could use the player number like the original
- Character names on select screen could use a frame like the original
- Sound when you move from one char slot to another (or choosing menu options) seems ripped at the wrong frequency
- Original "exit menu" sound was nicer, probably ripped on wrong frequency as well
- VS screen would probably be more interesting if you used that flame-ish BG from the original, or maybe the world map from arcade
- "FIGHT" sprite seems glitched

Also, I had this idea of including two def files whenever I release a lifebar (if I ever actually finished one ), one with the power bars on top and another with them on the bottom. Just takes editing some position values, so maybe you could do it.

Added a select.def, and modified system to reflect the changes.

As far as the name fonts on the select and versus screen go, they are meant for single-name samurai shodown characters.  Not quite kung-fu-man friendly.

-Fixed music paths
-vs fonts are aligned that way purposely, p1 is aligned with the bottom-right corner of big portrait as a reference, and p2 is aligned with the top left of p2 big portrait as a reference.  Again, designed for short names.
-lag is more noticeable on rounds after round 1 because there HAS to be a a whole second of silence in order to make up for the extended length of round 1.
-skipping intro lag is unavoidable.
-I like the simul lifebars the way they are, anything original I come up with will most likely be uglier.
-the fight.sff has been completely stripped except for simul bars due to the point above.
-Range of turns lifebar fixed, Thanks! Smiley stupid me.
-I like it better that they can pass in front.
-combo fonts disappear at the same time as every other combo font I've used in mugen.  Don't know what causes early disappearance.

I can't tell you guys how much I appreciate the feedback, Thanks!! Smiley

EDIT: I see what you meant now about the control lag, fixed, link updated.

All previous posts updated with the link for 2.0

Also be sure to check out http://dohko.blo.pl/
dohko has been kind enough to host my sp for me, although 1.2 is only on sendspace for now, as soon as he sees it, I'm sure he'll update it.

Again, designed for short names.
But you have to keep in mind that names aren't designed for screenpacks. I'd understand if you were just sticking it to people who use long ass names, but even KFM gets his name cut.

Could just split Tenka's in half as usual (either horizontal or vertically), it's really weird to have the default bars popping up for that mode.

Ok, seems lots of people don't like those fonts, should have anticipated this.

I'm not gonna change it in the default system, because like I said, none of the characters I use (samurai shodown, last blade) have that long a name OR have an "x" or v" in their name.  Besides, this was intended for ss/last blade.

HOWEVER ( ) The SP now includes an alternate system.def, which fixes several things.

-name overlap in turns mode
-name cutting on vs screen
-lack of "x" and "v" in name font

also the readme has been updated with instructions on how to install either version.

Enjoy! Smiley

I really love this screenpack!

I hope you add blood spraying and stuff for the hitsparks. (SS/LB style effects) I think that would make it flawless! Cheesy
