How do I know which characters will work with my MUGEN?
#1  November 07, 2007, 07:50:25 PM
I downloaded Mugen, and have got some characters, but the entire process of adding a character to try and see if it will work is very tiresome. It seems some people can get nearly every character, but only some seem to work on mine. Is there anything I can reconfigure or change or even download to solve this?

The fact of the matter is that a good number of creators weren't concerned with compatibility and developed for only a certain release of mugen.  For the most part, characters made now all work with winmugen, older works will need to be converted from dosmugen, and there are some works that are designed to work in a full game and will require an extra effort to get working.

If you're looking for a quick fix, you're probably out of luck.  But as I said, a vast majority of works are compatible with winmugen.

Well, thanks for your help. It's just annoying to find that over half the characters I download don't work.

Actually, I never payed attention when reading FAQs and didn't realize the document name needs to match the .def file. D'oh! >.>
