Hi, I'd just like to give you some advice tips from someone who has already worked in commissioned projects, that can help you in getting more potential applicants

1) Provide some details on the total number of characters and average sprite number for your project. This could easily help if a candidate has to code 5 chars or 50.
2) Provide a few sprites of the characters or a mockup of the visual aspect the game will take. Is the project based on photorealistic characters (Mortal Kombat), sprite-drawn (Street Fighter 2/KOF) or hand-drawn comic style or chibi characters? You are going to get more candidates if they know which art style is the game going to be.
3) A couple of hundred dollars is on the really low price range depending on the complexity of the game, hence why you need to refer to points #1 and #2. If your project is a 5 chibi character simple game, with 2-3 moves per characters, it may be "ok" for some coders, but if you want a MK-clone game with 12 or more characters and complex mechanics, you will need to add at least an extra digit to your offering.

Having said that, good luck on your project!
