Things of note:
  • Doll & Bomb was a super in Vampire Savior 2, but I'm turning it into a throw because it's kind of a boring, useless super. It's gonna be the same basic concept, but a little bit faster (since P2 will be right next to B.B. Hood) and will obviously begin with BBH grabbing the opponent.
  • I changed her command grab into a 360 command (it was originally a HCB + p command) because the original one would've overlapped with her level 3, the MvC2 version of Apple For You. Still not entirely sure about this though. Perhaps I can make that super use a button input super, which a lot of Darkstalkers character have. Could use some thoughts on this.
  • "Apple & Bullet" is just a placeholder name for the MvC2 super. It may or may not be officially named "Hyper Apple For You" (I'm not positive about that fact), but regardless, that's a boring name to have when this character will already have the original Apple For You super! If anyone's got any better ideas for the name, I'd love to hear them!
  • I plan to have her Dark Force, The Killing Time, power up one of her supers, much like Demitri. In Vampire Savior/Hunter 2, Dark Force was essentially split in two, with the old, character-specific Dark Forces getting turned into regular supers, and "Dark Force" becoming a universal mechanic that did the same thing for every character. And one of those things was that every character would have one of the supers modified/powered up in some way (for example, Demitri's bat transformation super changed back to the version from Night Warriors). So I'm technically merging the two different Dark Forces (or at least, one of the functionalities of the universal Dark Force with everything from the character-specific one). Anyways, B.B. Hood's Apple For You is the super that gets powered up when she uses Dark Force, but it's kinda lame, she just makes a bunch more apple bombs appear if the move connects. But the only other idea I had was to make her Cool Hunting super more like MvC2 (B.B. Hood's gun fires missiles that go full screen, and the Hunters themselves fire bigger projectiles), and that's not much more creative, so I dunno if it even makes sense to bother.

Also, time for some effects talk: I'm using the hi-res FX Hoshi made for KoopaKoot's Bulleta, which covers pretty much everything. Unfortunately, that set does not include the full number of tornado effect sprites used for her Sentimental Typhoon. Additionally, I wanted to try and use the explosions from Darkstalkers for BBH instead of the usual CvS2 ones. But I of course suck at hi-resing shit, so could anyone help me out with this?

On the right are the original effects made by Hoshi for KoopaKoot's Bulleta. On the left are those same FX but with the dust portions given a second round of filtering. I tried to keep it very light, just to smooth things out further, and I think it all works well! There is some minor detail loss but I don't find it very noticeable, so the trade-off is worth it.

The small detail loss is not a big problem.

I'm quickly budging in here, but I know this is an upcoming chars thread so I wanted to ask if you're really making a Shingo with Troy's sprites? Because he said so on YT.
I wanted to ask for visual evidence but I didn't wanna be rude.

Are Troy's own words not credible? Like, I don't think I've personally talked about Shingo yet on the forums (though I honestly can't remember; at the very least I've talked about him quite a bit on Discord) but why would Troy make something like that up?

I do indeed plan on working on Shingo next and am super excited to because A) Shingo rules, B) the sprites Troy made are amazing, and C) I would've done a Shingo a long time ago had sprites like those existed. The only reason I'm not working on Shingo right now is because Troy finished the sprites while I was in the middle of B.B. Hood!

Glad to hear. Thanks for the confirmation. I was afraid I was gonna start some serious stuff. I'm not on Discord either. It'll be neat to see a non-CvS SNK char from ye'.

I think I've always been open about my desire to make Mature and Shingo; the issue is simply the lack of sprites. Fortunately that issue has been solved with Shingo.

Maybe... maybe one day it will be Mature's turn. :foreveralone:

I have, those are technically Dampir's set with a few additions; I've looked at every "CvS" Mature sprite and none of them are up to par, IMO.

Just compare Troy's Shingo to any of the previous attempts by people at making a CvS Shingo; there's just a huge, dramatic difference. You could easily place that Shingo spriteset alongside any of the official CvS characters and not be able to tell what was official and what was fan made, which is very much not the case for most other "CvS" spritesets.

I thought someone was working on Mature sprites a couple years back for you to use (Judas I think), but I guess they stopped


I know he said custom, but I thought this was based on Midnight Bliss Lord Raptor.  Anyway, liking how B.B. is looking.

I'm so OK with that.

Actually only one project of Shingo was pretty "accurate" to be paired with CVS Kyo in the past. (among the 3-4 tries from around 2003 to now)
But only few gifs of if where posted here, and almost no one mind about it.
I cannot even remember the artist name. ^^;

Yes, buddy, I remember this Ophar version. (not the one I'm talking about here)
Actually Ophar made it a character, even if it's incomplete, really missing frames of animation and not very polished (pixel-wise)
One of the oldest CVS Shingo themed project I can remember of.

But I had another in mind, that never been into a character.
Just showing few animations here.

And when Dampir released his Kof based CVS Shingo sprites, some patches where released, and I felt like they can be combined with these custom gifs to make a CVS shingo... with some more edits.

Actually this is some project I had in mind in the past. among many others, but I'm really a slow spriter and slower programmer ^^;
