So I see there's a CVS SF1 Joe released. And With Sean saying he's going to finish the project he needs a voice.

What do I need to buy to record a good quality voice recording for him? A certain kind of mic that'd be good. And what program may I want to record it with?

You have a few options here to get the best quality:
1. build a full vocal booth
2. rent studio time (it's usually around 20-30 dollars and hour)
3. get a program and just go crazy. audacity is good for simple recording and free.
other options are pro tools, cubase etc. any daw will work.

As for a microphone, try the Snowball by Blue. It's pretty inexpensive, and has 3 recording settings built into it! Also, you just plug in the USB and it's good to go! You can even attach a pop filter to it. I actually have the aluminum version, and it's amazing with Audacity. I think you could probably get one for around $50.

Have you tried "Season 2" Kitty yet?

Thanks a ton for all the info guys! Just to note I got a PM that told me all this:

In the past, I've heard people suggest (these links are all to audio tests):

Blue Yeti

Blue Snowflake

Audio Technica AT2020  Blue spark sounds ok from what I'm hearing in the video.

Samson C01U came up a couple times while looking for the other ones, so I'll list it too

I've also heard someone suggest building a wood box (big enough to fit the mic) lined with cheap mattress padding (? check in the bedding department of your local Target/Walmart) if you want a cheap isolation box.  It'd look something like this.

Hope that helps in some way.

I'll go ahead and mark this solved at this point. Thanks again everyone!
