VIDEO Trans Felicia I’ve had the idea of doing a Felicia with a Bayonetta-inspired moveset ever since the character was released for Sm4sh. But then I also had the idea of then ALSO using this Bayonotfelicia character as a way of expressing my own expieriences with being transgender, as well as being a bit of a homage to this current generation of trans women. There’s a lot of little details that I haven’t properly been able to showcase in this video, since a lot of them still need to be completed.
As mentioned earlier, this is a combo-heavy chacter that takes a lot of inspiration from Bayonetta’s smash incarnation. But she also has a number of moves and techniques that make her into her own little thing. A lot of the core mechanics in this character are consistent with my previous release,
Cyberking , while having a playstyle different enough to make her something just as unique. So if you enjoyed him, you should enjoy this character as well.
Noteworthy Tidbits: Like Cyberking, she only has one power bar. Unlike Cyberking, she only has one Super Art. It's a bit of a reworking of Bayonetta's Witch Time. When the move is used, Felicia then has to land a hit on the opponent before it activates. If Felicia gets hit first, than the move fails. In Play Time, damage dampening is turned off (minus a few exceptions), but Felicia's overall damage output is somewhat reduced. Also, if Play Time is used (sucesfully) more than once in the same round, than the duration it lasts for is halved each time. (Starts out at 8, than 4, than 2, etc.) Her Neutral Special has ten different variations. It drains the entire power meter, but can be used at any time regardless of power. The move's power, range, and speed are increased depending how much of the power meter was eaten up by the attack. For example, at 100 power, it has range comparable Dan's Gadoken , by at higher levels it can become a fast projectile that can even hold opponents in place, allowing you to cover an approach or extend a combo. When charging her power meter, a sound effect and sigils representing those of Porpentine's With Those We Love Alive accompany each new increment of 100 to help players judge what level their Neutral B is at. Like the next update to Cyberking that I'm working on, she'll be released with two control schemes: The current custom one seen in CK's current release that implements smash mechanics while keeping some of the fundamental controls consistent with traditional fighting games, and a second one that breaks those rules in order to more directly resemble how Smash is controlled. Status wise, i'd put this character at around 60% done. She's pretty much at beta stage at this point, and all that's left is to work on her visual effects and a lot of polish.
She's been one of my favorite characters to both play and develop, and there's a lot of love being put into her, so I hope you'll give her a chance and enjoy her when she's finished.
