Wow awesome i always wanted something like this. Can this also work with character sprites?

Thanks for this program, it works very well.
Now I have to find a program which allows me to turn down the color count of an image manually before using ImageSplitter, because the image for my CastleVanilla stage got split into 63 layers, which is too much for many computers to process. :(

gfx gale allows you to turn an image to 16bit while using dithering.
