You can plan around the second one. As some dumb book no one read illustrates, the first one will just make you instinctively try to avoid that scenario in vain and then you die to it anyway. That's a silly question.

for me if your day of death was close, You would be stressed and be filled with anxiety everyday worrying about it constantly. so id pick the cause.

You'd likely be worrying about the cause as well, constantly trying to avoid scenarios which could lead to said cause.

Knowing when you're going to die gives you a time limit and unless it's gonna happen RIGHT NOW, you'll have enough time to do what you want to do in life, spend time with loved ones, and prepare your will as mentioned.

Knowing the "how" will make you try to avoid any situations that could potentially kill you, and potentially miss out on a ton of experiences that you might have otherwise enjoyed.
