Ok there is a question that rises to me everytime. A lot mugen games I seen are using Mugen 1.0, 480P, and 4.3 ratio  I know that is what most prefer. But the those settings don't appeal to me. I use Mugen 1.1, 720p, and 16.9 ratio. I really like the see characters sprites be more detailed and like the widerscreen. Let me know you all input on this?

i use ikemen 1280x960 which is 4:3, it looks great and still gives me a large screen with no need for localcoords or further character editing to make things work properly

Want a screenpack ported to ikemen? DM's open
Want a stage remade with parallax & possible super jump? DM's open

Hehehe, glad to see you came back to good ol' 4:3. 1900x1425, over here.

I don't understand the appeal of having 16:9 when most old era sprites are not designed for it.

(let's just not bring up the whole "Capcom uses weird resolutions", though)
Current release: SF vs MK, fully interactive

Mugen 1.1b, OpenGL mode, Hardware Scaling
gamewidth/height = 1920x1440 (4:3 x 3)
video width/height = 1920x1200 (monitor)

I use Borderless Gaming to run this in a borderless window instead of actual fullscreen so that I can multitask because 4 monitors is life.  This level of hardware scaling and resolution means that I can scale down large sprite characters (AOF, KOF13) and not lose any detail.  It's pretty spiffy.

There's two different kinds of 16:9.  There's the "right" way which is hours of work to gain a tiny amount of viewport that won't even work on all stages.  And then there's the wrong way which means your viewport is smaller than 4:3, lol.

I have a 1920 x 1080 monitor and 1280 x 960 looks squashed. I too wanna use 4:3 otherwise stages and characters look stretched on 16:9. I use 1280 x 720 currently. Any way to avoid the squashed look on 4:3? Using mugen 1.1.

960x540.
Because 1280x720 doesn't fit my 1366x768 screen properly but I still want a 16:9 setting instead of using the classic 640x480.

4:3 for me.
I'm not the biggest fan of wide screens and HD characters so...

4:3 ratio resolution, most characters aren't formatted to a 16:9 resolution in terms of effects especially when it comes to super backgrounds

Just do exactly what I did.  (Assuming you're running OpenGL)

Set the width and height (in the video part of your CFG) to 1920x1080.  Set gamewidth and gameheight to 1280x960.  Boom.  If the rest of your settings are correct, Mugen will stretch 1280x960 to vertically fill 1980x1080 and leave the sides black.

1280x 720

Settings and localcoord to fill widescreen, zoom too.

Sure, chars need some editing to fill gaps due FXs (super backgrounds)
but since my roster is small (Unist, Dengeki, BlazBlue, ect...), theres no problem.

4:3 for that old school arcade resolution.

I do the same thing that was posted above by Notagoodname. video res 1920x1080. graphics at 1920x1440. OpenGL

looks great.
