Seeing that topic about what a fighting game made out of the Mugen community would be like made me realize that we can have fun on here without being ridiculed, so since I'm drunk and have an overactive imagination, I put together this fantasy cast for the hypothetical SHADEs of Manhattan movie.

I try very hard to avoid "stunt" casting (i.e., Brad Pitt as Sabotage, Tom Cruise as Moses, etc.), so it would be more realistic. There are only 2 or 3 well known celebrities in here, and even then I'm pretty sure they'd do the movie on the cheap since they're not mega stars. Also, throw me your opinions or ideas, again, just for fun. I'm being silly I know.

Let's get the big ones out of the way first:

Jared Leto as Sean Savakis/Snow
Where You've Seen Him: My So Called Life, Lord of War, Panic Room, lots of other stuff
Why?: I will point out first that yes, Snow is supposed to be based on me, but believe me, I don't think I'm as good looking as Jared Leto. However, I wanted kind of a thin, mysterious actor to play the part, someone who can emote and use facial expressions to act without looking silly. Plus, as the co-main character, I needed a bit of star-power. Lastly, just look at the picture, the hair, the beard, I think he's a pretty good choice.

Ryan Gosling as Patrick Osiris/Sabotage
Where You've Seen Him: The Notebook, Lars and the Real Girl, Fracture
Why?: I really think the picture says it all. I was really racking my brain over this one. At first I wanted someone buff, but then I realized I wanted someone who is just in good shape so that he's more realistic to the viewer. Also, the super strength stands out more on someone who isn't huge. Plus, as a co-main character, I needed charisma and acting chops, of which he has both. This picture depicts EXACTLY how I would want him to look for the film.

Tyler Labine as Adam Young/Adamas
Where You've Seen Him: Reaper, Zack and Miri Make a Porno, Boston Legal
Why?: Since Adamas is designed as the comic relief of the main group of heroes, I needed a naturally funny guy who exudes the kind of likeability that Adamas does. Anyone who has seen Tyler on Reaper knows he is hilarious and would also fit right into the roll of a former con-man.

Missy Peregrym as Sandra Savakis/Bloodtide
Where You've Seen Her: Reaper, Stick It, Heroes
Why?: Besides what I perceive to be a physical resemblance (using the real life basis, my sister, as a model), Missy has just the right ability to blend sympathetic beauty, affable guy's girl, and secret CIA hardass all into one character. I know I've dipped twice into the Reaper well, but two actors from one show appearing in a film together is far from uncommon, and I really love that show's cast. If I had a place for Bret Harrison and Rick Gonzales, they'd be in this flick too, believe me. If you're not watching Reaper, you're missing out.

Lizzy Caplan as Jennifer Chadwick/Chad In Black
Where You've Seen Her: Cloverfield, My Best Friend's Girl, True Blood
Why?: Lizzy's portrayal of Marlena in Cloverfield, is basically exactly how Chad would act. She's sarcastic, reserved, and a bit of a bitch. However, Chad in Black would be a bit darker and more disturbed that Marlena was, but I don't think that'd be much of a stretch for Lizzy.

Christian Kane as Moses Maddigan
Where You've Seen Him: Angel, Friday Night Lights, Leverage
Why?: Aside from the fact that he has a totally badass name, just like The Mose, you'll see in this picture I've provided that he is a dead ringer for the CEO of Maddicorp. Just lighten the hair a bit (or don't, I don't mind taking a few creative liberties), and he'd have the cold, calculating businessman down to a T, physically. His character on Angel was an arrogant legal-type, so we know he can play a villain. I was torn between Kane and Brendan Fraser, but I had to go with Kane even though he doesn't have the star power that Fraser has.

Eliza Coupe as Stephanie Cook/Fray
Where You've Seen Her: Scrubs, I Think I Love My Wife, 12 Miles of Bad Road
Why?: Any of you who have seen Eliza on Scrubs this season should agree that her character Denise is a completely awesome blend of sexiness and attitude. Eliza plays the determined, intelligent tomboy so well that I just can't pass her up for the part of the scheming, sardonic turn-coat known as Fray. I had pretty much settled on Kristen Bell for the character when I remembered how great Eliza is on Scrubs.

Michael Jai White as Zenith
Where You've Seen Him: Spawn, The Dark Knight, Undisputed 2
Why?: This is the biggest no brainer of the whole cast. Michael Jai White not only looks like Zenith, with the build and all, but he is an accomplished martial-artist, which fits right into the fighting style of the character. Also, it may be worth mentioning that Zenith is actually based on Michael Jai White to an extent. Surprise, I know.

Maggie Q as Hnang Rma/Vesper
Where You've Seen Her: Live Free or Die Hard, Mission Impossible 3, Balls of Fury
Why?: Maggie is half-vietnamese (on her mother's side), so she is actually authentic when it comes to the character's nationality (compared to Hollywood's practice of casting any Asian or Asian-American in any Asian role without regard to their actual race or nationality). Plus, she's limber, sexy, and soft spoken, just like I imagine Vesper would be. She's also got quite a bit of practice in American action films, so this would be par for the course.

Jeffrey Donovan as The Specialist
Where You've Seen Him: Burn Notice, Changeling, Blair Witch 2
Why?: Jeffrey Donovan is a complete and total badass. He looks the part, he acts the part, and he just oozes charisma, and as The Specialist, he would use all of those traits to portray a quiet, ruthless menace. This is also a huge no-brainer for me, because I can't think of anyone better to play the part. I'm also a huge fan of Donovan's, so if he wasn't playing The Specialist, I'd be damn sure to find him a part somewhere else.

Cillian Murphy as Kane Kelly
Where You've Seen Him: Batman Begins, 28 Days Later, Red Eye
Why?: This one was tough. I needed someone with an ice-cold glare and a natural ability to play a villain. He also needed to resemble Kelly, and be able to carry the weight of a character so instrumental to the plot. Cillian Murphy is a brilliant actor, and a chameleon who can adapt to many different roles. The clincher for me was those eyes. Just look at them and tell me you don't see the resemblance.

Other Notes

1. Thirteen would inevitably be played a stunt-man behind a mask, with minimal dialogue, so I thought best not to cast anyone specific for him. If I had to though, wishful thinking would go with Jackie Earle Haley, who blew everyone away this year with his portrayal of Rorschach in Watchmen. He proved that he can act from behind a mask. Plus, he's a real life black belt in Kenpo, and has the short but menacing stature that Thirteen has.

2. Kane Kelly would probably have a small part in the first film, showing up only during the incident that freed the subjects, and then would return in the sequel as the main villain that is fighting both the protagonists and Maddicorp's forces.

3. I always imagine there is a police element in the film, specifically one NYPD detective who notices all the low-level occurrences and skirmishes happening throughout the city and knows they're connected. He would be trying to piece things together and convince his fellow officers that something big was going on in the NYC underworld, but they wouldn't believe him. I've never really laid out the specifics of this character, but I would definitely want to explore the idea.

---------------------

Anyway, you guys can comment or throw out your opinions, just as long as you realize we're just having a bit of fun. I think we all know that to some extent we're dorks, so don't take this too seriously, but let me know what you think.

----------------------------------------------------------------
The new characters need actors as well! More to come later.

CM Punk as Byrne
Where You've Seen Him: WWE, ROH, Pro Wrestling in general
Why?: I know, I know, if I'm going to cast a wrestler in the movie, I should cast him as Ruckus, right? Well, CM Punk is one of the only wrestlers going today that I think would genuinely be able to act if given the chance. His promos in WWE are awesome and it's obvious he can talk well, and he really looks the part in my eyes. He even had his hair dyed orange/blonde before coming to WWE, so he can pull that look off too. My other choice was Kevin Zegers, but I just really like the Punker for Byrne.

James Roday as Ruckus
Where You've Seen Him: Psych, The Dukes of Hazard, Gamer
Why?: Ruckus is a funny, light-hearted pro wrestler from Jersey, and I needed someone with comedic timing, the look. and physique to pull it off. Roday, a self-professed fan of pro wrestling, would be perfect if you just add long hair to him. I'm a huge fan of Roday's, so if I was actually casting this flick, I would have to find a role for him, and this would be it.

Spencer Locke as Wyldestar
Where You've Seen Her: Resident Evil: Extinction, Cougar Town
Why?: This was a tough one because so many actresses in Hollywood right now have the look I would need, so it was really just a matter of choosing one I liked. Spencer Locke was the one of the only bright spots in RE:Extinction, so I chose her. I was torn between her and Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter), but I ended up going with Locke because she wouldn't have to learn how to pull off an American accent.

Neil Patrick Harris as Apollo
Where You've Seen Him: Harold & Kumar, How I Met Your Mother, Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-long Blog
Why?: Just take a look at the picture! Not enough? Watch Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-long Blog and you'll see (it's AWESOME). Harris already proved he could pull off a dorky mad scientist, so he would be a natural. There is literally no one else for this part.

More to come. Remember, this is just for fun, DON'T MOCK ME!  >:(

Hell I say send it to hollywood they already messed up so many movies they wil need something to help increase their rep and this movie would do it. Not only should you send the ideas send the actual actors you want like you said they can't ask for too much right, and the special effects wouldn't have to be the latest coolest effects because the story is already amazing. you even have the suspicious cop that Hollywood loves so much. Hell yea I would pay to see this movie at least 4 times  :sugoi: maybe 5 but thats it lol

Quite an impressive cast you have going here.
You've pretty much nailed down every character.
This is EXACTLY what Hollywood needs right now.

I'm glad some people thought this was fun. I've been envisioning Jeffrey Donovan in the role of The SPecialist since the first time I watched Burn Notice, so I'm at the point where when I draw him sometimes he even looks like Donovan. I'm a dork.

Recently I've gotten into the show Dexter, and I've decided that Jennifer Carpenter, who plays Dexter's sister Debra Morgan, would be even better for Bloodtide.

Don't worry, Necro doesn't really apply on the child boards like this. But yeah, he's perfect for the role, since he inspired it, lol. It's cool people still look at this!

the character art and poses are great but the gradient background and platform look way too cheap in comparison

maybe you could try something else for the background like a cityscape or something else really
