Hey Guys,I'll be using this thread as a progress thread. This game is NOT dead. I have been side-tracked and demotivated from it though. To kick myself back into shape, I'm going to try a more orderly approach.So far, what we have done is:16 Characters16 StagesScreen Pack and LifebarsThere's more that needs to be done though. Currently, as of 7/15/2013, I'm going through each character and fixing any and all bugs in the NZCR characters. Stages will be addressed separately and I'll be making changes to the Screen Pack and Lifebars as well. Now, getting back to the characters. I invite everyone who is interested to submit any bugs you may find to me in some way. You may post them here in this thread, via PM, or even on my site (via PM). I of course will be doing rigorous testing on my end as well. I have a bug tracking document that I've set up to manage them.The lifebars are being recreated to accommodate the new mechanics.Let the progress continue!

Greetings Alexei, how are you doing? I've tested all your chars but i haven't found any bugs or whatsoever, the only thing i didn't like too much was the "ground rocks Fx/anim" when Naruto throws his "Rasengan", it kinda clashes, i think it'd be better if you add a transparent (white or light grey) dust Fx. Same goes for the underground uppercut.
Hey man, I'm well. As I mentioned on MC, I made new, unreleased effects for Naruto's rasengan a while ago. But, for the undergound uppercut, don't you think that should at least have some sort of ground effect? I mean, he's coming from the ground. lol

Also most of your chars Fx have a great quality and that one looks kinda pixelated (don't know if that's the correct term). Yes, pretty much any of my effects that are high quality have been made from scratch by me. The pixelated effects are from other sources like NZC and other Naruto games.Sure! Let's see what you got.

Yeah man. The problem is that when I get back and look at where I left off... it reminds me why I stopped in the first place, lol. Usually, it's something retarded like platforms for NZCR... or just the sheer amount of people asking me to make things that I've explained to them why I couldn't. Or why platforms don't work in the version of the stage THEY downloaded. So frustrating, lol.

Motivation is always like that. You have to wait sometimes wich gives you better ideas and all. I'm sure you'll have great releases when you are there again. Also, a character wich you never never made publicly is great. That will be excellent there.

Day into Night transitions are fairly easy coding wise as long as the sprites aint all RGB'd. For some help, if you need it, you should check out Cafe Diss by Dissidia or Avalon by MarkPachi. They did some good transitions man

Well, it took a lot of consideration, but to avoid even more nightmares, I decided to keep the stages separate. Haha, will do. Something I realized about Konoha: It doesn't really have areas that would look right standing on them. You know, there's railings on the roofs of buildings and they're too far in the background. Not sure what I'm going to do with that.
Konoha Comp:The clouds roll across the sky slowly, covering the sun which shines through, creating subtle rays over the entire stage. To create more contrast, the foreground has been color corrected with a little deeper highs and lows. Hokage Mountain in the back has been darkened by a bit and blurred to keep in out of focus. This also saves the background from the pixelation that existed before. I think it's a lot less ugly now.In terms of platforms, there's nothing here that could really work for that kind of thing. NZC stages were designed that way, but this is from a different game. I might add something else to create some stage interactivity, but that's unconfirmed. Personally, I think it's fine without it. Not every stage needs to have same or even similar functionality.In MUGEN:As you can see here, the buildings are too far back to make the tops of them platforms. It wouldn't look natural.What do you think?
I'm just glad that you're back. You could edit the 'movable food cart' in the back, add some wooden boxes and put them in random places at the same level (zoffset) as the chars. Or you can just leave it as it is (i would recommend to add some birds on that beautiful sky).Like this:Sprites:

The characters haven't really been worked on too much. I have to finish that stage first and have been really busy lately.

Yeah, it's kind of odd, but think of it like this: The space between the open field and the back forest contains a creature who happens to be in front of the tree. Even in Anime, sometimes those eyes don't contain a real body of mass until the creature emerges from the trees to attack or whatever. Okay, so I think I'm going to post a total of 4 videos, showing 4 character updates per video. Otherwise, there's going to be a lot of "downtime" between my visible activity the beta release. Just an "FYI" for you guys. So far 2.9 are done.Updating a character requires fixing them first, because they are naturally "broken" and no longer work in the Full Game environment. After that, they undergo a huge gameplay change. Lots of testing, effect changes, possible move changes/additions. Whatever. Then an AI revamp and then after enough testing I deem them complete and move on to the next one.

I'm looking forward to your update videos He's actually changed a bit since you saw him last. He can combo into supers a lot better than before. Sasuke was too OP when I made my changes at first. His speed and power was practically unmatched. He would rush you, break your guard and destroy you. Rinse and repeat, lol.

I test them against each other and watch their AI fight. It reveals bugs to me at times as well. Just not to the extend that you do. And hell, if I did it ALL myself, then what would I need you for? Your demo is Great man. I like the way of using combo's. Having platforms for this Game is a plus for sure. Your effects already amazed me from the beginning and I can see that this will get some attention when it's completely done. There is no bug I discovered yet but, I'll let you know if I find anything there.

No Promises. Hell I laughed at my own past work I attempted to draw Laharl from scratch it went about as well as you can guess. Back on topic with how popular Naruto is I am amazed not so many people have offered help.
Well I'm not that surprised. Just because you're a fan of something doesn't mean you always are willing to contribute. I like Family Guy, but wouldn't want to help with the art of it. It's a pretty natural response I think. Also, people have their own projects usually.
So... Kakashi is still in progress and has really been draining my energy and motivation, but what was done recently was:- Suiryuudan Path Change. Instead of following a basic parabola, the path has been changed to something a little more safe to use. The dragon comes out and up, but takes a sharp arc downwards. This means that the only way to really dodge is it in the air. Even then, if you're too low, you'd get hit.- Kamui revamp. New effect and startup. The Sharingan eye is gone.- Bug fixes and the usual.Other than that, I'm (still) trying to sprite or resprite some moves. I'm just not happy with them.
Sounds great to me, can't wait to see the new Fx. But, what aren't you happy with exactly? Are you going to post a preview of this new moves?

I decided that they had to be redone to look more natural, but I can't sprite worth crap. Because of this, my first attempt needs to be redone. I don't know what it is really. They look good animated in a .gif, but for some reason in game, they just don't work.I might. Not really sure about that.

Since the release of Bowser, some of you may be wondering what's happening with NZCR. Well, I've not given up that's for sure. I have one more side project to complete and then I'll be back at it with full force most likely.
Now that Red Ranger's updates are out of the way, NZCR will be one of my current focuses. Why one? Well, it's because I've resorted to working on two projects at once. My current WIP will be in progress, but also NZCR. You know what really sucks though? Even though the Demo is out, the first four characters need to be updated to fit my current standard. I've been learning a lot more about the rights and wrongs of what makes a fighter good and let's just say there are a lot of wrongs present in mine...
We could use the Sprite Sheet Expansion Thread for custom Sprites to have speed in progress for The Game. That could work aswell there.

The sprites are kind of on the small side too, which is another turnoff for some, if not most, people.
