forced palette problem (I need some help with that)

Hi,

I'm using FF Studio to edit an old winmugen project.

My character have it's own palette. (1,1) No problem with that.
But when I add some animation (with exactly the same 256 colors palette)

For some reason, it creates a new palette (510,0), then the act files of the character have no effect on it ingame anymore.

I tried to remove the new palette and apply palette 1,1 to the specified sprites. then SAVING.
The result is ok in FF, but ingame, the problem is still present.

And if I open again the SAVED character with changes, it regenerates this 510,0 palette.

I have never been good with palettes. But this time, I have no idea how to fix that.
Any help is welcome!
Thanks a lot.

I did few tests by using different methods, but I still have this problem.

I also compared the pcx palette in photoshop.
It's the same in the "OK sprites" and the "non ok ones"

any suggestion ?

do that and before saving change the sprite version of the character to mugen 1.0 (where it says version: at the bottom of FF studio)

then save. should fix it

Thanks for your reply.
This coding is for a winmugen character only.
Some older fullgame project I started. (is it still a good thing to use this 1.0 option?)

I tried deleting the wrong palettes and did many trial and error. like apply the palette again to all the shared color sprites.
And it seems to be fixed for now.

But whenever I add some new animations to the SFF, sometimes the palette will be the default one 1,1, and sometimes, it will create a new one and name it with the group number of the sprites. exemple "800,1"

Altought myself don't use the FF Studio, in the Fighter Factory 3 exist these options to force the image to adapt the palette visualized in the tool.

First You need to select a palette from the visible ones, then:
1.- Choose the new sprite number you want to adapt and press the "Adapt image to match the colors of the palette" button.

2.- Press the "comit changes to the current sprite" button to do exactly that.

Repeat those 2 steps with every new sprite or image you want to adapt.
*For best results first edit the new images background color to match with the desired palette one.

Finally save your new sff to the version you wanted.
There is no knowledge that is not power

1. use FF browse to a sprite which palette is correct
2. save the sprite to png file.
3. use 3rd party tool like photoshop to force new sprite to use the same pal as the png as you exported.
4 add to characters and use 1.1

Any luck? You're just missing one button to import the sprites properly.

Also if you are getting the animations from another character you can import the sprites AND animations with FF3 super easy. (Ctrl+Shift+I)
If you import the animations and click import sprites, you wont be able to press the adapt image option.

If the palette is exactly the same, as in the layout is identical not just the colors, you can use Exchange.
