We started this project back in 2002. Maybe it's time to finish it?

This video shows a collection of Level 3 hypers from many characters from the game (not all) and also shows some new characters (again, not all).

This project is often linked with nostalgia of early memories of people with Mugen, something which makes us very happy. Love it or hate it, Spec Ops is part of Mugen history :)

Are you hyped for that?

Maybe this request will not be accepted, but I still have to do it. Wouldn't it be appropriate to put a hyper background (not startup and hyper combo finish) of the same color for all the characters? Visually, the graphic effects of hyper moves mingle with the hyper background, making everything confusing.

Also, I think the effects should be as less flashing as possible ... you know, to avoid epileptic seizures.

No, i don't think so. The hyper background matches the color of the effects to help to bring a standard for each character.

About the flash effects, they are part of the spec ops trademark- they were always like 5hat. We could add some warning, but we have no plans to remove the flashes.

I don't think he will make the cut. The last version I have for him is very old and he would need to be updated a lot to me on pair with the other characters.

Probably, yes. We need to see if it fits the game and, most important, if you will edit the whole sprite sheet for him. You can PM me the sprite if you want.

Red Cyclone can access "Obsidian Body mode", where he gains super armor and can use some fire based moves like this.

Maybe It's a good idea for a new char in rooster. It's good for a nostalgia taste. I can make the required sprites, If you want.

This is what I remembered ^^

Of course at this old time any shoto clone looked OK.
I have to say that now, with the billions of characters released, the effect is not as good, but it still brings me some kind of nostalgy seeing these old WIPS screens ^^

I have all the characters from that project - the authors gave them to me and I can use anyone I want.
But I am not sure if I will use them - at least, for now. We want to finish this at least.
Then we can think about an update someday.

There is a char I need to update - MB-03, aka Virtual Weapon (one of the 3 weapons built by Shadaloo)
She has a ability to morph herself into many different characters for almost every animation (including walking, crouching, etc) using 3 different options per animation.

In some of those cases, she could morph into some non street fighter characters, like somes from Darkstalkers and Jojo (no Marvel*, KOF or any other company) but, after those years, I am not sure anymore if Darkstalkers could fit - Jojo will be removed for sure. Today, we have way more options to choose from Street Fighter, Final Fight, Rival Schools and Captain Commando.



What do you guys think? Should Darkstalkers be removed from the character or they are okay?

I can't work on her right now, but its something I would like to hear opinions.
PS: *on the past, she had a power drain move which would work against some Marvel characters, but this will be changed and it will work only inside the Spec Ops universe.

The only other universe to have any canonical connection to the Street Fighter universe, aside from the ones you mentioned, is the Strider one, since Zeku is shown to be a Strider in SFV. As much as I love Darkstalkers, if we're using canon as a reason to connect those universes, their appearence would not be justifiable. My suggestion for those shapeshifting animations is to include more non-playable characters in them, focus more on playable characters for recognition, but add some NPCs for uniqueness and variety.

I think the original was made by N64Mario and then Ethan had edited more frames.
He has a CS to a certain degree only.

Wow this is looking great especially some of unconfirmed characters ...
The only hyper super lacking is hugos it be pretty coo if you could put in a super where Edi.E comes out and shoots them followed by Rolento grenades and bulgar comes out runs them over his wheel chair.

Perhaps just after 2 or 3 loops of normal stance.

That is a good question. I just know that every character on this game uses a nickname, but I don't know why "lady" (I have hints).

Surely this project is a show of coding, but i must confess it provokes a cerebral bug when you see the characters of street fighter in a concept thoroughly different.

but it it's a perfect example that mugen becomes possible inumerous possibilities that normal games could never be reality.

I like it, i think awesome how you get coding these chars with complex attacks and a stunning gameplay.

we couldn't expect less for someone that has been more than 15 years in mugen right?

All the characters are looking really cool so far, and as mentioned above me, the effects are awesome. Just out of curiosity, is Power Gear (Alex), going to get any sprite edits to alter his appearance like the rest of the cast? He's the only one that stands out since he is visually the same old Alex. Either way is fine, I'm just wondering. His moveset is really cool though, but in my opinion he is too fast and seems like he should be a slower more brutish play style. Anyways, thanks for sharing the update status and good luck to the team on finishing it up.

Yeah, he could be a little slower. Its Ethan's char, so I don't know his history. As far as I know, he is Alex which gone through an experiment.

So Capcom included Rose in Street Fighter 5 Winter Update ... but how it would be a Spec Ops version of her? Also, our own version of SF3 Necro

I really hope to see this game finally released.

It will be released when the right time come. A lot of stuff are done already and we could even release the game now if wanted to.  But I want to polish/finish some stuff before doing it.
