Paul McCartney is the greatest bass player of all time!!!

I bring this up because it is true.

All these wild bass players like Jaco Pastorious and Bootsy Collins are never exciting or really that unpredictable.

Paul can do it all. (sounds like something Billy Mays would say)
He can be real simple or do some crazy shit that jams the musical portion of your brain.

Go to 1:05 and listen to the bastard go nuts...then listen to the whole song cause it's fantastic.

But more than anything...nobody puts more personality into a bassline. That's why he's impossible to replicate.
Something like "Get Back" is really simple but has so much energy that it's great to focus in on and listen to.

He is one of the few bass players that I like besides Paul. But what makes Les, Les is his specific stylized playing.

He can be normal and interesting too. I remember hearing an Ozzy song where he played bass and I thought it was really good and was very surprised to see in the notes that it was Les.

Paolo Rossi is better then Paul, and he's not even that good.

But then again; it's impossible to tell the technical skill of a player, because we never know if the songs that they play show their full potential.

Lemmy owns, but he's more attitude than technique.
In the opposite way, John Myung is a fantastic bass player with lots os technique, but he's almost invisible during gigs D:

I guess Greg Lake (King Crimson, Emerson Lake & Palmer) was the best bass player I've heard. He was fantastic.

I'm big fans of both Paul and Les.
They're both amazing.

I couldn't begin to explain who is the best, as I don't play the bass.
But those two have got something. Others too.

John Entwistle from The Who is pretty bad ass. His Bass playing was Chill and Simple but yet so wounderful to listen to.
