Color palette problem

Hello, I have a problem with the Fighter Factory, it is about the color palette. First of all, I draw the sprites in Adobe illustrator, I try that the designs do not have many colors like the example you are seeing.

I export the files in 24-bit BMP Os/2 format because it's the only option fighter factory has given me to add color palettes.

The problem is that a wide range of colors appears and when removing the green background the sprite is not completely clean, it has many imperfections. What should I do to make the design clean?

Thank's

This is the same concept, except you'll be removing blue lines.

BUT
I wouldn't do it that way ^^^
Export it as a png and follow this

Also if it's not too too late, you might want to recolor the yellow in the legs. If you separate them from the chest and arms you'll get a LOT more palette looks down the line. IMHO it's well worth the work if it's not too hard right now.
